Ms. Simran Kohli
Simran Kohli is a well-known radio jockey and workshop director (radio and podcast). Currently, she is working as a media consultant to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Radio City (India) and the Association of Radio Operators of India. She also organizes and conducts workshops on radio technical and programming training for the jail inmates of Asia’s largest prison facility ‘Tihar Jail’. Ms. Kohli has so far trained more than 12000 inmates and set up a Campus Radio Station in Tihar.
Ms. Kohli is a visiting faculty and a regular content contributor to Mass Communication and Research Centre (MCRC) Jamia, Delhi, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), National School of Drama (NSD) and Apeejay Institute.
She has previously worked as a media consultant and workshop director for UNICEF, India, programming head and morning show host for Radio City New Delhi, as national creative head and morning show host for RED FM, New Delhi and as programming head, Radio Mirchi, New Delhi. Ms. Kohli was also a part-time presenter at All India Radio.
She is credited with launching Asia’s first full-time private radio training academy for radio professionals in New Delhi. Ms. Kohli has authored a book titled ‘Understanding Radio: The Radio Jockey Handbook’, which demystifies the role of an effective radio jockey while explaining the process and formats involved in radio program production.
She has completed her B.A. in Psychology Honors and B.Ed from I.T. College Lucknow, M.A. Mass Communications from Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, and a one-year advanced training in Audio Operations Management, Voice Modulation, Radio Production and Business-to-Business Consultative Selling from BES & RCS.
