The international industrial trends predict India to be among the front-runners in the ferrous and non-ferrous sector owing to the much-anticipated growth of automobile, auto-parts, solar materials, construction and other industries. This growth potential envisages a resurgent metallurgical, material and advanced materials sector. In 2018, India become the world’s 2nd largest steel producer due to a host of government initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ which pushed the local steel demand.

Industrial Scope: The graduates in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering are readily absorbed as engineers/researchers in the following industries:

  • Steel & Stainless Steel Industries
  • Non-Ferrous Industries (Aluminium, Copper, Zinc, Gold, etc.)
  • Automobile Industries
  • Manufacturing Industries
  • Paints & Chemical Industries
  • Glass Industry
  • Oil & Gas Industries
  • Electronics Industry to name a few

Higher Education: Apart from the industrial jobs, graduates in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering have vast opportunities to pursue higher education in diverse inter-disciplinary fields such as:

  • Advanced Materials Technology
  • Electrical, Magnetic and Optical Materials
  • Computational Materials Science
  • Sustainable Development and Green Materials
  • Industrial Engineering/Management
  • Energy Storage Materials
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • And many more……………….
