I chose UPES because of its good reputation and its creative atmosphere for pursuing the challenging International dual degree course. I acquired the scientific knowledge necessary for understanding nuclear energy production, industrial applications and enlarged my vision on management of nuclear waste with regard to the public acceptance.
During my studies, I felt that college environment was very friendly starting from teachers to students. I had the opportunity to build contacts with eminent international scientists in the field through work, practice and industrial exposure. I can’t ignore the highly cooperative administration and director of the department Dr. Ram. K. Shivpuri. I would like to thank him for his continuing support, encouragement and for providing a suitable working atmosphere.
I would also appreciate here the teaching methodology, which was quite professional in terms of multimedia power point presentations on important topics, provision of hard copies of helpful notes from mentioned books in required assignment tasks along with complete research work on the fruitful websites, indicators of assignment guided by head of department Dr. Prashanth Rawat. The superb thing about him is the blend of discipline, hard work, support and the sense of belonging he offered through the system. The learning was a blend of discipline, hard work, enthusiasm that gave me lot of confidence to take up challenges and big strides in learning. UPES is indeed a great place to study and keeps getting better and better....
Experience : UPES has a very positive atmosphere that is essential for personality development in students. With impressive specialisation courses and good job exposure, it definitely gives students of UPES a positive edge in placements.
Knowledge with dedication is highly essential to climb the ladder and reach the pinnacle of success”, I am Debashish Banerjee, from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, India, pursuing my Masters in the challenging field of Nuclear Science and Technology. Being a research oriented student I wanted to build-up my career in doing research to manage this hazardous waste thereby minimizing the potential adverse health impacts to people during the entire lifetime of the radionuclide’s involved. The scope of nuclear-waste management covers generation, processing, storage, transport, and disposal. This can be done under professional guidance which pushed me to choose my career in France, since France is the leading activist in Nuclear sector. To have this guidance, UPES gave me an opportunity to and to continue my M2 (Master2) in Advanced Nuclear Waste Management in Ecole des Mines de NANTES - International Graduate School, France, which not only provided me the technical advancements in theories, but also strengthened the bridge between concepts and their industrial applications. Also I was financially helped by the Region Pays de La Loire Scholarship of 7000 euros which helped me in focusing into my studies rather than worrying about my family budget. As a part of my internship, my primary aim was to find effective nuclear waste disposal ways.
I am doing my internship at SUBATECH, NANTES under radiochemistry and material science department. My research would be in finding the corrosion rate of Zirconium alloy so that it helps ANDRA, France’s only Waste disposal company in finding more efficient way of storing their radioactive waste under deep geological repository.
Experience : UPES has given a nurturing environment for me to learn and excel. Not only is the ambience great but so are the people, from my friends to lab assistant teachers to faculty members. I got the opportunity to be a part of Lockheed Martin Payload Design Challenge where I am currentlyworking in phase III. Our team came 1st winning 40k USD after compeiting with IIT Madras that came second, IIT Delhi, BITS Pilani-Goa campus, Delhi Technological University.
Experience : I am a student of B.Tech C.S. Telecom Inf. 2013-17 batch and it is my great pleasure to inform you that I have been selected in Indian Air force and Indian Army after successfully clearing my written examination and service interview. It is an immense pride moment for me and I want to thank UPES for helping in shaping my dreams into reality.
"Looking back, I can see UPES was extremely important and a stepping stone in my career. My experience has been outstanding. It allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills which are extremely important in my field of work and helped me in achieving my dreams and serving the Nation."
Experience: During my four years at UPES, I have not only received an unconditional support and brilliant exposure but also augmented my personal growth. The faculty members at the center for information technology are especially responsible for my overall growth. The IBM collaboration really helped me during my application process to foreign University. It was very well appreciated by universities abroad. Of the 8 universities that I made it to,most were very impressed by the coursework drawn out for us. The quality of education I received here is definitely the reason why I was chosen for a Master's program in Computer Science at The University of Vermont, a public research ivy, with a full tuition waiver and an RA position. My course curriculum was absolutely at par with what is being taught across the globe. I am looking forward to returning one day and giving back to the university in whatever capacity I can.
Experience: UPES for me is a constant experience of learning with domain specific expertise. The faculty are specialized in the domain specific courses. Most of them not only being highly qualified but also industry experts, thus the learning here has been quite a fulfilling and interesting process. The infrastructure, faculty, industry exposure, guest lectures, technical and cultural fests have all been the value drivers for a high amount of professional and personal personality development.
Although I did my minor project in fabrication of vertical liquid separator. It was also a big learning experience. My internship at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Mumbai was the most enriching part of my student life. I received an opportunity to gain real life experience. The industrial tour was one power packed experience where I not only saw my knowledge converted to reality at Reliance Patalganga and GAIL user. No beach and no filmy location was left unexplored and endless hours of shopping made our trip a complete week of crazy fun and frolic.
Experience :I completed my graduation from UPES in 2016. My journey with Xebia started 6 months back as a Trainee. Xebia is a passionate organization. They give you the flexibility to switch to the domain you want to work on. The company is very much open to adopting new technologies. They provide a terrific career opportunity as well as growth. Cannot get better than this for a fresher. But, facing such real life scenario was easier because of the exposure and education I received at UPES. UPES constantly strives to bridge the gap between the course curriculum and industrial requirements. This provides a solid foundation and prepares the student for the real world.
It is very difficult to express my feelings about the journey at UPES. It has been a hub of knowledge, a beautiful temple of excellent teachers. At the beginning I was confused about my decision about joining this branch of Nuclear Science and technology, but later it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life. The University not only gave us knowledge or degree it gave us the skills and competencies to compete in the international platform. The quality of teaching was so high with such awesome teachers. It is hard mentioning names of all but contribution of Professor Shivpuri and our beloved HOD Professor Prashant Rawat is remarkable. The toughest of subjects like nuclear physics, quantum mechanics, radiation and detection was made so clear that it seemed we studied them from ages but actually was for the very first time. I was chosen one of the four students to go to France for the dual degree at Ecole des Mines de Nantes. The French system though is different yet it was full of knowledge. We had professors from all the government agencies of nuclear sector which jointly worked for sustainable production of nuclear power hence making France one of the leading countries for nuclear technology. The knowledge from both the universities is incomparable. We also had an experience to compete for finding an internship at the biggest sectors in France and with god’s grace, parents blessings and most importantly our teachers support and the knowledge which they imparted; we were successful to find one with good salary. I personally got my internship at CEA Saclay and my project is based on detection of X- rays from gamma ray burst using pnCCD detector (instrumentation SVOM/MXT). Both the universities have contribution of their own to our accelerating careers but it is the dedication of our beloved professors in UPES as well as in Ecole des Mines that we stand here at this position today. The journey has been one of the best experience not only through theoretical basis but the effort to let us know the practical application of everything we learned and making us get such great opportunity in life. I would be always grateful to the wonderful teachers and hope to get their blessings throughout my life. Thank you for making this journey the most memorable journey of life.
Experience : It's "surreal" if to be described in a word. UPES helped me to transform from a person without aim to a person with a purpose. A purpose to serve society by leading mass and helping more leaders to evolve. Instead of letting us wavering around for opportunities, Faculties and authorities here helped us to experiment with ourselves and helped us to choose what is accordingly required.
