A Doctorate in Law, also known as a PhD in Law is an advanced post-graduate degree that involves research and taking an academic approach to Law study. Candidates for a PhD in Law are responsible for taking on in-depth research into a concentration within the field of law. Working toward a PhD in Law is a process that develops the candidate in other ways besides their specific understanding and knowledge of the subject they are researching.

DETAILS

Candidates pursuing the Part-time PhD program need to spend mandatory Residency at the UPES Campus at Dehradun. During the stay, the candidates will do the library research work, lectures, interaction with faculty/guide and lab utilisation. Candidate pursuing Full-Time PhD is expected to devote his \ her time in the department during the entire period of stay.
All students pursuing Part-time PhD will pay fee @ (Rs. 50,000/- Per Semester) till Program is complete.
  • Candidates for admission to the PhD program shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) / Differently abled and other categories of candidates as per extant UGC Regulations from time to time; or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
  • It is desirable that the applicants, who possess minimum prescribed qualifications for admission to Ph.D. program, should have an excellent academic/professional track record in the relevant discipline

Applicants fulfilling minimum eligibility requirements shall be required to appear in a RET (Research Entrance Test) and interview at UPES Campus, Dehradun.

Next RET (Research Entrance Test) is scheduled on 6th December 2019 & 3rd January 2020 at UPES Campus, Dehradun followed by an Interview.

 

Last Date to submit documents is 30th Nov 2019 for RET and Interview on 6th December 2019
