  • Master' Degree in Engineering/Technology/Management Science/Commerce/Social Sciences relevant to the Research Domain ,approved by the Academic council of the university with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade, from Xth standard onwards with 5 years of relevant work experience*.
    Applicants with more than 5 years relevant managerial experience may be granted relaxation of 5% in their Master's Degree aggregate marks or an equivalent grades only (for instance a person with 55% marks in Master Degree with 5 years or more experience* would be considered equivalent to a person with 60% marks but having no work experience.
  • Applicants having professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CFA/CS/LLB(both 5 years integrated and 3 years after graduation) with minimum 60% marks from class X onwards and 5 years of professional experience*.
  • * Work/ Professional experience should be post highest qualification

Campus Visit

    Candidates pursuing the part-time PhD program need to spend mandatory 7 days (one week) at the campus at Dehradun every semester. During the stay, the candidates will do the library research work, lectures, interaction with faculty/guide and lab utilisation.


The minimum period of study and research shall not be less than 3 years(36 months) from the date of provisional registration of the candidate.However,in case the performance of the research scholar has been exceptionally good the period can be reduced by six months with recommendation of the FRC/CRC and approval of the Vice Chancellor.

  • Applicants fulfilling minimum eligibility requirement shall be required to appear in a Research Entrance Test (RAT) and interview by the Faculty Research Committee (FRC)/College Research Committee (CRC).
  • The FRC/CRC shall test the potential of the applicants for conducting research and his/her academic capabilities through a process of formal presentation and/or any specified aptitude test.
  • Based on the academic record and the performance of the applicant on the Research Entrance Test and Interview, the FRC/CRC shall recommend to the Academic Council the names of the successful candidates, along with set of course recommended for the candidates (existing courses/specially devised courses) for admission to the part-time PhD program.
