“Project Abhilasha -2016“ was organized from 1st to 30th of June 2016 wherein 42 students from 6 districts of Uttarakhand participated which included 12 female students. All these students are 10th class toppers of their respective schools in 2013 and have entered their class 12th this year. This batch will again be called for the second phase of their training in “Abhilasha -2016 “camp. Apart from imparting extensive training in ‘Physics’, ‘Chemistry’ & ‘Mathematics’, the participants were engaged in Physical activities of outdoor games like Football, Volleyball, Cricket etc. A conducted tour of the Laboratories and Library was also organized for them during their stay. The batch was also taken on a tour of the Kandoli Campus of UPES during their stay in Bidholi campus of UPES.
‘Project Abhilasha’ is a continuous effort of UPES since 2005. Every year, UPES selects a large number of students with the support from Directorate of Education, Uttarakhand, and imparts free rigorous in house residential training for 10 days in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for AIEE/JEE Entrance Examination with free boarding and lodging facilities. The project aims to build a scientific base among students of Uttarakhand who do not have coaching facility in vicinity. These students are chosen from interiors of Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Haridwar, Srinagar etc. and prepared for engineering entrance examinations.
This year “Abhilasha -2015” was organized in UPES campus from 1st of June 2015 wherein 69 students from 6 districts of Uttarakhand participated which included 26 female students. All these students are 10th class toppers of their respective schools in 2013 and have entered their class 12th this year.
