Fortified rice carries added micronutrients such as iron, which help prevent anaemia and other deficiencies. The Technical Support Unit (TSU) at UPES works in collaboration with, and is sponsored by, the UN World Food Programme to complement the Government of Uttarakhand's rice fortification efforts.
TSU staff work in the field with the people who distribute and use fortified rice, from Anganwadi workers and fair price shop owners to families who receive it.
