Mission

  • M1: To generate competent professionals in the transportation, manufacturing and energy sector.

B.Tech MECH - Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • PEO-1: Graduates will have the scientific and technical knowledge to have successful career in auto and allied industries.
  • PEO-2: Graduates will have competency to analyze challenges and advancements in the focus areas of power train, drive train, stability and safety aspects of vehicle engineering.
  • PEO-3: Graduates will be motivated and confident to pursue advanced education, research and development and other creative efforts in automotive engineering and allied areas.
  • PEO-4: Graduates will have higher order thinking and leadership skills to become technology leaders of tomorrow.
  • PEO-5: Graduates will contribute to the welfare of society and environment by taking sound professional and responsible technical decisions.

Program Outcomes (POs)

  • PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO4: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PO7: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • PO9: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Automotive Design Engineering Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs): B.Tech ADE

  • PSO1: An ability to evaluate thermal performance of IC engines under different fuel modes.
  • PSO2: An ability to investigate the trouble shooting of automotive systems.
  • PSO3: An ability to design and develop automotive systems using modern tools.

Besides other academic facilities available for the department on Campus, following academic infrastructure is also available for enhancing conducive learning of the students:

  • Library: Fully Fully air-conditioned multi-floored centralized library building is with well-furnished with Reading Room and Reference books, Journal & Magazine and new furniture. Besides, Twenty Workstation for E database, OPAC ( Online Public Access Catalogue) access kiosk are also installed in the Library. In addition Photocopy and scanner facility is also available.

The research thrust of the department is in the following areas:

  • Cleaner Fuels applications in engines
  • Alternative Fuel Awareness and capacity building
  • In-house vehicle development
  • Nanotechnology for enhanced oil recovery
  • Automotive gear design software development

Research facility is recognized by Biodiesel Plant in the State of Uttaranchal, [Uttarakhand Council of Science and Technology and DST, MNRE, DSIR
