Eligibility Criteria and Conditions:

  • All students who have applied for admission for Undergraduate (UG) programs except LLB 3 Years and Global Pathway Program (GPP) and have taken 12th CBSE Board / ICSE Board or any State Board exam (mentioned under “COBSE”).
  • The scholarship shall be applicable for first year tuition fee only, if the offer acceptance fee is deposited within the given timeline (as mentioned in the admission offer letter).
  • Scholarships awarded under the Board Merit category for Undergraduate (UG) programmes shall be calculated based on the aggregate marks obtained in five subjects, comprising English as a compulsory subject, three mainstream subjects, and a fifth subject being either the second language or an additional subject, whichever reflects the higher marks obtained by the applicant.
  • The total number of seats for this scholarship is upto 3000 and will be awarded in the order of merit.
  • The scholarship is only available for the students who have taken admission to regular programs i.e., not in Global Pathway Programs:
    • In case a student takes admission in regular UG program and later shifts to Global Pathway Program, the scholarship awarded at the time of admission will be reversed and the change of program will only be permitted post submission of the scholarship amount awarded at the time of admission.
    • If any student takes admission in the Global Pathway Program and later decides to shift to regular program, the student will not be eligible to get the scholarship based on the Board merit.
    • A student/applicant will be eligible for only one type of Scholarship/concession in a given Academic semester or year. If a student is awarded a particular scholarship/concession but also meets the criteria for one or more than one scholarship/concession at UPES including Domicile (As mandated by regulation), student shall receive the highest of the scholarship/concession offered but not both.
  • Eligibility for scholarships based on Board merit shall be determined and applied strictly at the time of admission, prior to completion of student registration. Students intending to avail such scholarships must exercise the option and submit all requisite documents before registration. No request for grant, revision, or consideration of any scholarship shall be entertained after completion of registration, under any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions:

  • All students who have applied for admission to MBA programs (regular) except Global Pathway Program (GPP) and have done graduation from any recognized University (mentioned under AIU).
  • The total number of seats for this scholarship is upto 100-125 and will be awarded strictly on first-cum-first-served basis, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria and availability of seats.
  • The scholarship shall be applicable for 1st year tuition fee only, if the offer acceptance fee is deposited within the given timeline (as mentioned in the admission offer letter).
  • A student/applicant will be eligible for only one type of Scholarship at the time of admission. If a student is awarded a particular scholarship but also meets the criteria for one or more than one scholarship at UPES including Domicile (As mandated by regulation), student shall receive the highest of the scholarship offered but not both.
  • There is no renewal as it is applicable for 1st year only.

Scholarship Offered

25% seats are reserved for Uttarakhand domicile students taking admission in AY 2026-27. They will be eligible for a 25% scholarship on the tuition fee per semester.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Submission of Domicile Certificate/ Sthai/ Mool/ Adhiwas Niwas Praman Patra at the time of admission.
  • Students who have applied for admission in Global Pathway Programs are also eligible for Domicile Scholarship.
  • If a student declines the admission offer, the scholarship offered shall become void ab-initio.
  • A student/applicant will be eligible for only one type of scholarship at the time of admission. If a student is awarded a particular scholarship but also meets the criteria for one or more scholarships at UPES including Domicile (as mandated by regulation), the student shall receive the highest of the scholarships offered, but not both (not applicable in case the student is eligible for Academic Performance Scholarship from 2nd year onwards).
  • Domicile or any other scholarship not opted by the student at the time of admission shall have no claim in future and will be construed as waived against the University.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicants to check their eligibility before submitting their applications. In case the applicant is found non-eligible at any stage, his/her submission or scholarship will be disqualified.
  • Compliance with all other norms as prescribed by the University from time to time.
  • The scholarship will be awarded in the form of Fee Concession; Fee Discount; Fee Waiver on tuition fees only. Awarded scholarship can’t be exchanged for cash/cheque or transferred to any other program or campus or academic year/semester etc.
  • No acts or omission which results in unlawful behavior, with malafide intention maligning the University brand in digital, print, or social media, promoting, supporting or sharing any content which is against University brand.
  • The decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.

Jyoti Scholarship (Freeships)

Jyoti Scholarship

Merit-cum Need-Based Scholarship
With the objective of access to quality education for all, UPES provides 100% scholarship on semester fees (including all components except security deposit) to meritorious students from under-privileged backgrounds with high aspiration, commitment, and caliber.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • Total number of 51 seats only for regular program on the merit basis.
  • Upper age limit for UG and PG programs - 20 and 25 years respectively (on the date of registration as notified by University).
  • Eligibility criteria shall be minimum 80% marks in 10th and 12th.
  • Free Hostel facility will not be applicable.
  • Submission of Income Tax Return (ITR) of both parent / Family Income Certificate issued by District Magistrate (DM) / Additional District Magistrate (ADM) / Collector / Deputy Commissioner / Additional Deputy Commissioner / First Class Stipendiary / Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner.
  • Family income not more than Rs. 8 lakhs per annum from all sources.
  • One-time refundable security fee of Rs. 20000/- to be deposited at the time of admission.
  • Freeship is awarded only for one year. Renewal of freeship in subsequent semester/year will be based on:
    • The candidate should have clearly passed & obtained a minimum of 6.0 SGPA/CGPA score in the last exam. In case of not meeting this criterion, the decision shall be taken by the Vice Chancellor based on the recommendation of the Registrar on a case-to-case basis, which shall be final and binding.
    • No disciplinary case registered or reported.
    • Submission of renewed Income certificate / ITR / EWS (if applicable) before the start of each academic year.
    • Maintenance of 75% attendance.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

For New Enrollments

  • Scholarships will be awarded as per the seats allocated for each sport. These seats may be transferred to other sports if required, with approval from the Vice Chancellor/Registrar.
  • Minimum academic eligibility for the respective program must be met at the time of admission.
  • The scholarship is applicable only if the student continues to be part of the UPES sports team.
  • Participation/achievement at the National/International level should not be older than two years from the date of registration.
  • Candidates must provide valid proof of participation and medal achievements. The Scholarship Committee will take the final decision regarding the grant of scholarships.
  • The scholarship will be awarded for the first year only, and continuation will be decided by the Scholarship Committee on a case-to-case basis.
  • Only Academic Performance Scholarships (from 2nd year onwards) can be clubbed with this scholarship.
  • A student is eligible for only one type of scholarship at the time of admission. If eligible for multiple scholarships (including domicile, as per regulations), the highest applicable scholarship will be awarded, not both.
  • If the sports scholarship is discontinued in subsequent years, the student may apply for a domicile scholarship, subject to eligibility.

For Existing Students

  • All dues must be cleared before availing the scholarship.
  • A minimum of 75% attendance must be maintained.
  • No record of indiscipline as per university norms.
  • No existing academic backlogs in examinations at UPES.

Additional Conditions

  • Students must regularly practice, seek expert guidance, and participate in coaching camps to maintain or improve performance.
  • The scholarship is awarded for one year and will continue only if the student maintains or improves proficiency in the concerned sport.
  • The scholarship may be withdrawn if the student is involved in any act of indiscipline (on or off campus), fails academic assessments, or does not meet university academic requirements.
  • The scholarship applies only to tuition fees and does not cover admission, examination, transport, hostel, or any other additional fees.
  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to approve, revise, or withdraw the scholarship amount.

Fellowships for M.Tech. & M.Des. programs

Fellowship

a) M.Tech. Program:

GATE Scholarship
Students admitted to the M.Tech. program in the academic session 2026-27 with a valid GATE score of 75 percentile and above will be considered for a fellowship of up to ₹12,400/- per month from August 2026 to May 2027.

Research Grant
All students will also be eligible to avail a grant of up to ₹50,000/- towards outcome-based research, as per the rules and regulations framed by the University.

b) M.Des. Program:

A Teaching Assistantship of up to ₹3,000/- per month is available for students pursuing the M.Des. program.

Eligibility Criteria for Fellowship for M.Tech & M.DES

  • Minimum CGPA of 8.5 in academic year
  • Passed every semester without any supplementary
  • Maintenance of 75% attendance
  • No disciplinary action initiated against the student.
  • Exemplary behavior and compliance with all other norms as prescribed by the University.
  • Students who are getting support e.g., fellowship/scholarship/fee waiver etc. from any other source (public or private) will not get any kind of financial assistance/support e.g., fellowship/scholarship/fee waiver etc. from the University.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • The academic performance scholarship will be applicable for undergraduate, postgraduate and global pathway programs.
  • In the case of tie, the CGPA will be calculated up to third decimal point.
  • The minimum qualifying criteria for getting the scholarship will be the CGPA of 8.5. However, the scholarship will be awarded to 10% of the total students enrolled in each of the program (10% will be rounded off to the next nearest number or 1 student, whichever is higher).
  • Passed without any supplementary exam. If a student fails to obtain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 or has an active backlog, the scholarship will be discontinued and can only be renewed in next academic year subject to student meeting the eligibility criteria.
  • Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic grades and attendance, therefore all such scholarships shall be awarded post declaration of results on a yearly basis. For example, scholarship based on 1st year result, if eligible, shall reflect in the fee invoice for the 2nd year and so on. As a result, students will have to pay full fees for 3rd semester and the benefit of the scholarship will reflect in the 4th Semester.
  • Scholarship will only be awarded till pre-final year.
  • Maintenance of 75% attendance.
  • No disciplinary action initiated / sanctioned against the student or non-compliance of norms as prescribed by the University from time to time.
  • No acts or omission which results in unlawful behavior, with malafide intention maligning the University brand in digital, print, or social media, promoting, supporting or sharing any content which is against University Brand.
  • The scholarship will be awarded in the form of Fee Concession; Fee Discount; Fee Waiver on tuition fees only. Awarded scholarship can’t be exchanged for cash/cheque or transferred to any other course or campus or academic year/semester etc.
  • Academic Performance scholarship can be clubbed with Domicile/Sports/Employee Ward/Employee Sibling Ward/Spouse/Alumni scholarship.
  • The decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.

Student Financial Support

Student Financial Support

The University extends special financial support to the students who are unable to pay the fee on account of having lost any of the earning parent after taking admission at UPES and after submitting full fees for at least one semester.

Amount Given as Support

  • The financial support extended by the University is a relaxation of Rs 50,000/- towards their tuition fee per semester till the last qualifying semester.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • The students should maintain / improve their academic performance every semester.
  • The students applying for relaxation should not have any NC (Not Clear) or Backlog in any semester. However, the Registrar can use his discretion to recommend the Vice Chancellor for approval without using this as a precedent for future cases of the same nature, if any.
  • No disciplinary action initiated / sanctioned against the student or non-compliance of norms as prescribed by the University from time to time
  • This relaxation is applicable only for the upcoming semester/s.
  • The support is provided only for one semester. Students desirous for the extension in next semester will be required to submit fresh application along with the grade card of last exam passed once a communication is circulated by the Department of Student Experience and Engagement (SEE).
  • The University reserves the right to approve / disapprove the application received from the student.

Alumni Scholarship

Offered Scholarship:

  • 50% tuition fee waiver for the full duration of all regular PG programs. Rest all fee components to be charged as per the notification of AY 2026-27.
  • 50% fee waiver on the alumni enrolled in Part-Time Ph.D. Programs
  • No Alumni fee will be applicable.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • Students who have applied for admission to Global Pathway Programs are not eligible for Alumni Scholarship.
  • Applicable to all Alumni graduated from 2021 onwards. For any Alumni graduated before 2021, Department of Alumni Relations will present the same to the Competent Authority as a special case for approval.
  • Alumni must meet the notified admission eligibility criteria for AY 2026-27 for admission to the respective programs and should email his/her academic details along with application number to Enrollments Department.
  • Renewal of the scholarship for the subsequent year will only be based on attaining a minimum of 8 SGPA /CGPA with no backlog and no disciplinary cases registered or reported against the student.
  • Scholarship once discontinued will not be revived and the decision of the Competent Authority shall be final and binding.
  • Only Academic Performance Scholarship (2nd year onwards) will be clubbed with this Scholarship.

Employee Ward Scholarship

Offered Scholarship:

  • 75% scholarship on the Semester Fee for wards of UPES employees enrolled in regular UG, PG, and Part-Time Ph.D. programs, covering Tuition and Academic Service fees.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • The scholarship will be provided to the ward of employees after meeting the eligibility criteria of the program and will have to go through the selection process as defined by the University.
  • Submission of Aadhaar Card of both Parent and Ward clearly stating the relationship between Parent & Ward.
  • All regular and confirmed employees of UPES (Faculty & Non-Faculty) and on the Allied Services Rolls (Including employees on the rolls of HERS/ISPE/M- Power/any other group of companies) will be eligible to get the scholarship for maximum 2 children.
  • The scholarship will be applicable for the fee of 1st year (Inclusive of Tuition and Academic Services fee). However, all other components of the fee are payable as defined.
  • For continuing this scholarship in the subsequent years, the ward shall ensure that he/she is not involved in any disciplinary case and will have to abide by all the rules and regulations of the University.
  • The Employee shall continue in service with the University for the period his/her ward is registered in the program with the University. If the employee resigns or is terminated from the services, the ward of the employee shall be liable to pay the full amount of fee payable to the University post his/her exit from the University.
  • Only Academic Performance Scholarship (2nd year onwards) will be clubbed with this Scholarship.

Employee Sibling Ward Scholarship

Offered Scholarship:

  • 50% scholarship on the Semester Fee for sibling wards of UPES employees enrolled in regular UG, PG, and Part-Time Ph.D. programs, covering Tuition and Academic Service fees.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • The scholarship will be provided to the ward of siblings of employees after meeting the eligibility criteria of the program and will have to go through the selection process as defined by the University.
  • Submission of Affidavit/ Aadhaar card/10th Marksheet of employee and sibling wherein Father/mother name is mentioned establishing the relationship between Parent & employee.
  • All regular and confirmed employees of UPES (Faculty & Non-Faculty) and on the Allied Services Rolls (Including employees on the rolls of HERS/ISPE/M-Power/any other group of companies) will be eligible to get the scholarship for maximum 2 children of sibling.
  • The scholarship will be applicable for the fee of 1st year (Inclusive of Tuition and Academic Services fee). However, all other components of the fee are payable as defined.
  • For continuing this scholarship in the subsequent years, the ward of sibling shall ensure that he/she is not involved in any disciplinary case and will have to abide by all the rules and regulations of the University.
  • The employee shall continue in service with the University, for the period ward of his/her sibling is registered in the program with the University.   • 50% scholarship on the Semester Fee for the student enrolled in regular UG, PG and Part-Time PhD program (Inclusive of Tuition and Academics Service fee).

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • The scholarship will be provided to the spouse of employees after meeting the eligibility criteria of the program and will have to go through the selection process as defined by the University.
  • All regular and confirmed employees of UPES (Faculty & Non-Faculty) will be eligible to get the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will be applicable for the fee of 1st year (Inclusive of Tuition and Academic Services fee). However, all other components of the fee are payable as defined.
  • For continuing this scholarship in the subsequent years, the spouse shall ensure that he/she is not involved in any disciplinary case and will have to abide by all the rules and regulations of the University.
  • The employee shall continue in service with the University, for the period his/her spouse is registered in the program with the University. If the employee resigns or is terminated from the services, the spouse shall be liable to pay the full amount of fee payable to the University post his/her exit from the University.

For Example: Course fee: Rs. 100,000/- and scholarship percentage is 10%, the total scholarship will be Rs. 10,000 and the benefit transfer to 1st semester will be Rs. 2,500/- and so on till 4th semester subject to meeting the terms and conditions / renewal criteria.

Terms & Conditions:

  • The student should not be a Fee Defaulter at any time during the program.
  • The student should be regular in attending his classes and examinations.
  • In the event of discontinuance of scholarship for any reason whatsoever, the scholarship shall not be renewed.
  • UPES reserves the right to change, modify or withdraw the scholarship or its Terms & Conditions, without any prior notice.
  • Special fee benefits under corporate MOU and academic scholarships or any other similar scheme, cannot be combined.

(b.) Employee Ward Scholarship (For Online Programs):

30% scholarship applicable on program fee for the students enrolled in degree programs/non-degree programs.

Eligibility and Conditions:

  • The scholarship will be provided to the ward of employees after meeting the eligibility criteria of the program and will have to go through the selection process as defined by the University.
  • Submission of Aadhaar card of both parent and ward clearly stating the relationship between parent & ward.
  • All regular and confirmed employees of UPES (Faculty & Non-Faculty) will be eligible to get the scholarship for maximum 2 children.
  • Scholarship is applicable from Jan 2026 intake onwards and must be availed at the time of admission.
  • The scholarship is applicable on full fee for the entire duration of the course subject to completion of the course in the minimum stipulated time and not applicable for the extended duration.
  • Scholarship will stand null and void in case of cancellation, refund, or misrepresentation.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions:

  • Scholarship will be awarded as per the seats mentioned above against each game/sport. These seats can be transferred to other games if required after approval of Vice Chancellor / Registrar.
  • Minimum academic eligibility for the respective program at the time of admission should be met, as mentioned.
  • The participation/achievement at National/International level should not be older than two years from the date of registration.
  • The candidate seeking admission under sports category must produce relevant documents of participation and medal winning. The Scholarship Committee will take the final decision regarding grant of scholarship.
  • The scholarship under this category shall be awarded for the 1st year only and continuation will be decided by the Scholarship Committee. It will remain applicable only if the student continues to actively participate in sports and takes part in recognized sporting events.
  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to increase / decrease / approve / deny the amount of scholarship.

Terms & Conditions

  • Alumni scholarship will be applicable for the students who completed their Degree from UPES Online and taking admission to degree or non-degree program with UPES Online.
  • Scholarship will not be applicable if the student is seeking admission to another non-degree program after completing non-degree program from UPES Online

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • All students who have applied for admission for Undergraduate (UG) programs except LLB 3 Years and Global Pathway Program (GPP)
  • A student whose parent (mother/father) is serving in the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, or Air Force) is eligible for this scholarship, subject to submission of valid service proof.
  • This scholarship will be applicable after document verification on campus.
  • The scholarship shall be applicable for 1st year tuition fee only, if the offer acceptance fee is deposited within the given timeline (as mentioned in the admission offer letter).
  • Proof of defence relationship (Dependent/Relationship Certificate), defense service proof of parent/guardian (Serving: Service Certificate + Defence ID; Retired: PPO + ESM Card; Martyr/Disabled: Casualty Certificate, if applicable), and Aadhaar cards of both the student and defence parent/guardian.
  • A student/applicant will be eligible for only one type of Scholarship/concession in a given Academic semester or year. If a student is awarded a particular scholarship/concession but also meets the criteria for one or more than one scholarship/concession at UPES including Domicile (As mandated by regulation), student shall receive the highest of the scholarship/concession offered but not both.
  • If any student takes admission in the Global Pathway Program and later decides to shift to regular program, the student will not be eligible to get the scholarship based on Defence Ward Fee Concession.
  • There is no renewal as it is applicable for 1st year only.

Objective:

The Teacher’s Ward Scholarship is instituted to recognize and support the wards of teaching professionals employed in recognized schools. The scholarship aims to promote academic excellence and provide financial assistance to eligible students.

Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

  • 35% scholarship shall be applicable for 1st year tuition fee only, if the offer acceptance fee is deposited within the given timeline (as mentioned in the admission offer letter).
  • Scholarship on semester fee (Tuition) for 1st Year and will be provided post document verification once student joins or registers at UPES.
  • Scholarship is applicable for all students who have applied for admission for Undergraduate (UG) programs except LLB 3-Years and Global Pathway Program (GPP).
  • The scholarship is applicable only to wards (son/daughter) of full-time or permanent teaching staff employed in recognized schools affiliated with competent regulatory authorities such as CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, or equivalent Government-recognized education boards.
  • A student/applicant will be eligible for only one type of Scholarship at the time of admission. If a student is awarded a particular scholarship but also meets the criteria for one or more than one scholarship at UPES including Domicile (As mandated by regulation), student shall receive the highest of the scholarship offered but not both.
  • If any student takes admission in the Global Pathway Program and later decides to shift to regular program, the student will not be eligible to get the scholarship based on Teacher’s Ward Fee Concession.

  • Minimum 1 year of continuous full-time service in the current school

Not Eligible:

  • Teaching staff employed in colleges, universities, polytechnic institutes, or coaching institutes
  • Administrative staff such as Clerks, Administrative Officers
  • Non-teaching staff such as Lab Assistants and Support Staff
  • Visiting, Guest, or Part-time Teachers

Documents Required for Verification:

  • Employment Certificate issued by the school
  • Valid School ID Card
  • Recent Salary Slip (last 3 months)
  • Proof of relationship (Birth Certificate / Aadhaar)
  • School affiliation / recognition proof (if applicable)

Terms & Conditions

Who will get the Scholarship?
All students who have taken 12th CBSE Board / ICSE Board or any State Board Exam (mentioned under “COBSE”) shall be eligible for consideration of scholarship. However, scholarship shall be awarded only to those students who have complied with relevant criteria for various scholarship. Scholarships will be available for limited seats only.
Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions outlined herein (“Terms and Conditions”), shall govern the SCHOLARSHIP POLICY at “UPES” (erstwhile known as University of Petroleum and Energy Studies”).

  • Notwithstanding anything under this Scholarship Policy, UPES’s Management has sole discretion to edit, modify, change, update, continue or abandon the above-mentioned Scholarship going forward at any given point of time, without any prior written intimation. The Vice-Chancellor will be the final deciding authority for all scholarship decisions as stated in this specific disclaimer.
  • There is no concept of automatic renewal for next semester. The Sponsorship Committee shall decide every semester on a case-to-case basis, subject to the Scholarship Policy, if it is prevailing at the relevant time.
