Profile Summary
Ekta Yadav is an Assistant Professor (Law) at UPES, Dehradun. She completed her B.A. (Hons.) in Economics from Miranda House, University of Delhi and then went on to pursue her LL.B from Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi. She is a dual master’s degree holder in law as she completed her LL.M (Human Rights Law) from The Northcap University where she is the gold medalist of her batch. With an aim to expand her academic base beyond her specialization, she went on to pursue another LL.M (Corporate and Commercial laws) from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai where she developed keen interest in this area and feels motivated to contribute to the field as an academician and a researcher.
Work Experience
Prior to joining School of law at University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) as an Assistant Professor, she had the privilege of working with Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar. During her tenure there, she gained valuable experience and honed her teaching skills in the field of law. She was also the Convenor of Training and Placement Committee at the School of law, LPU.
Research Interests
Her research interests include analyzing human rights through a corporate governance lens, contemporary legal developments and emerging issues in various laws including Insolvency and bankruptcy law, International commercial arbitration, competition law, human rights and humanitarian law compliance during armed conflict, refugee and migration law, public international law.
Teaching Philosophy
Ms. Yadav’s pedagogical approach is based on the Socratic method of teaching which involves posing questions to students to encourage critical thinking, reasoning, and engagement. She conducts lecture-based interactive sessions to provide comprehensive explanations of legal concepts, principles and landmark cases. She also encourages students to ask questions, engage in discussions, and share their perspectives, fostering a sense of ownership and active learning. She focuses on providing students with a practical approach to legal subjects to become employable legal professionals. She believes in creating a conducive learning environment that supports and encourages students’ lifelong learning, growth and overall development of students.
Courses Taught
Ekta has taught wide array of subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students such as Company Law, International Human Rights Law, Insolvency and bankruptcy law, Competition law, corporate restructuring, Securities market regulations, Intellectual Property Laws, Labour Laws.
Awards and Grants
Ekta Yadav is the recipient of gold medal and academic excellence award for Best PG student in LL.M (Human rights law).
Scholarly Activities
Ekta holds a PG Diploma in International Law and Diplomacy from Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi. She has successfully completed several certificate courses viz. course on ‘Capital Markets & Securities Laws’, course on ‘Law and Economics’ from GNLU, Gandhinagar and an Online Certificate Course conducted by Leiden University, Netherlands on ‘International Humanitarian Law in Theory and Practice’. She has published articles in reputable legal journals and presented her work at national and international conferences and seminars.
