Under B.Tech FoodTechnology, specialisation includes- Food Biotechnology & Food Process Engineering.

Biotechnology is an amalgamation of Biology with technology. It is the branch of science where laboratory research is transformed into products of societal well-being and relevance. School of Health Sciences and Technology at UPES offers B.Tech. in Biotechnology, a four-year programme (160 credits course) which includes theoretical coursework, laboratory practicals, projects, and industrial training. The curriculum includes a combination of core subjects, major electives, minor electives, skill-based vocational courses, practical laboratory sessions, social and industrial internships, and projects.  
The course transforms young minds into biotechnology-based, industry-ready professionals, entrepreneurs and/ or Next-Generation Scientists who would lead future-driven innovations in the domain of Science and Technology. The Specialization includes Bioinformatics, Genomics and biosimilars, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, and Biomedical engineering. This multi-disciplinary field prepares engineers to enable unmet medical demands by designing Medical Devices. The Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act. (FD&C Act) defines a device as an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, and the like. Medical Devices help in mechanical processes like movement, such as prosthetics, or implants which replace a part of an organ, electronic devices which can be used in diagnostics or simply software such as those for improved imaging.
