Dr Manimuthu Gandhi

Dr. Gandhi is an Independent Legal Consultant, currently holds an elected office of Vice President, Indian Society of International Law. He is a former Professor & Dean, VIT School of Law, VIT Chennai and was the Executive Director, Centre for International Legal Studies, Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat. Dr Gandhi has published book chapters and articles in reputed Law Journals in India and abroad.
He has a total of 21 years of experience in teaching Law and has a forte in Quality Assurance of Higher Education. Dr. Gandhi has undergone training in Legal Advise and International Contracts in the University of London and was a visiting scholar at Columbia University during Spring 2005.
Experience: Dr. Gandhi has served in the Legal & Treaties Division, Ministry of External Affairs Government of India for 17 years and retired as Joint Secretary (L &T) and legal adviser in 2012. During his tenure in the Ministry he had also served as the Legal Adviser in the Permanent Mission of India to UN, New York from 2004-2005, Member of the Indian Legal team appeared before the International Court of Justice in the Aerial incident case (Pakistan v India) (1999).
Advisory Roles: He was the adviser sent by Government of India to Mauritius with the mandate to explore the feasibility of finding legal solution in the matter of Chagos Archipelago. Consultant UNDP on Justice Programme in Afghanistan and Secretary to the High-Level Committee of Government of India on Civil Nuclear Liability issues.
