An industrial visit to Safexpress, Dehradun was organized on April 7, 2012 for BBA (Logistics) students. During the visit, the students learned the inventory management, 3PL logistics solutions, material handling and other innovative techniques adopted by Safexpress for providing logistics and supply chain management solutions to their clients.
The details of the operations were explained by Mr. Gaurav Chaudhary, Branch Manager, Safexpress, Dehradun, Mr. Rajat Sharma, Operations Head, Safexpress, Dehradun and his team. Accompanied with their professors Dr. Alka Dwivedi, Mr. Saurabh Tiwari and Dr. Vipul Sharma, the students got valuable insight about this organization.
BBA Students visit to MuseumIndustry exposure is one of the regular features of the programs offered at UPES. In this regard, a visit to Subir Raha Oil Museum, ONGC, Dehradun was organized for students of BBA (Oil & Gas Marketing), IInd Semester this year. This visit provided perfect learning environment for these students to learn how oil is generated and trapped. The students learnt about drilling & refining of oil and also about the life in offshore locations through video films. Accompanied with their faculty Dr. Suresh Malodia, Course Coordinator, the students were very excited to know the details of this museum and found the visit fruitful.

Inaugurated on 14th August 2005, the museum depicts various stages of oil and gas value chain. The museum has two floors; ground floor which depicts the search for oil and the history of oil. The first floor exhibits depict the journey of crude oil after it surfaces, and the arduous process till it enters every aspect of life as a refined product.
University Cricket Team has won the State Level T20 Cricket Tournament organized by College of Engineering Roorkee(COER) at their campus at Roorkee .
Total 16 teams from different colleges / institutions participated in the tournament. Team UPES defeated “COER – B” in the semifinals and in the finals won by 5 wickets against the host team COER – A.
The efforts of our Players, guidance of our Cricket Coach – “Mr. Amar Saxena” , dedication of our Sports Officer – “Mr. Anant Prakash Mishra” and blessings of ENTIRE UPES FAMILY have kept the University flag flying high.
Harshad Dixit , student of CoMES from the Integrated B.Tech (APE) + MBA (OG) , 2008-13 batch presented a paper at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) North Africa Technical Conference 2012, held in Cairo, Egypt. He co-author the paper titled “A New Approach for Wireline Formation Testers (WFT) Interval Pressure Transient Test (IPTT) Design”
This paper has also been patented provisionally in the USA while the application for the patent is under processing. This paper quantifies the effect of noise on IPTT reliability and provides operational mitigation methods by simulating the test before the job.
Centre for Management Development (CMD) organized a two day residential Management Development Program (MDP) on “Demystifying Supply Chain Management” on 24 to 25 February, 2012. UPES College of Management & Economic Studies is the academic partner of CMD for support activities.
Organizations like HPCL, IOCL, BHEL, bpcl, Lubrizol, Bajaj Auto, DARCL Logistics, JSPL, Directorate of Industry Uttarkhand, etc. nominated their managers and executives for attending the program as participants. Senior industry professionals and academia shared their expertise on various contemporary issues in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Participants from various industries like automobile, pharma, oil and gas, steel and Directorate of Industries, Uttarakhand attended the program.

With a powerful blend of academia and corporate partners working together to achieve excellence in business education, the Program proved to be a grand success and was very much appreciated by the participants.
