UPESDAT will be conducted online and offline (Paper pencil-pen) mode to facilitate students. UPES DAT will be conducted to shortlist candidates for the above listed programs.
This test is conducted for those aspirants who don’t have a valid NATA/ NIFT/ NID/ CEED or other design exam score or didn’t appear for NATA/ NIFT/ NID/ CEED or other design exam by appearing forthe UPES – DAT which is followed by Personal Interviews and presentation on work portfolio.UPES – DAT is conducted to evaluate the design aptitude of the candidate. This exam is to judge the creativity ability of the students. Students who are interested in design must have a vision to create new products or to see the problems being faced in the existing products. Sketching skills are most important and every student must exhibit his/her inclination towards the same.
UPES Design Aptitude Test (UPES DAT) is conducted in two ways 1) Online & 2) Paper-Pencil-pen (or Offline). The candidate can choose any one mode to appear for UPES DAT.
A talk delivered on the topic ‘Space Exploration-Indian Perspective,’ by Mr. Deepak Negi, Scientist in Applied Mathematics Division, Aero Flight Dynamics group, of Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, a launch vehicle development center of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Trivandrum, India has touched various inspiring thoughts among student audience. Aerospace, Avionics, Electronics and Mechanical Engineering students of UPES were enlightened to attend the lecture on ‘Indian Space Program’ which highlighted on various aspects of Indian launch vehicle evolution, Sounding rockets, Indian space exploration, Inter-planetary missions, Exploration of Moon, Chandrayaan-1, Exploration of Mars, Mars Mission, MOM satellite, and Mars Orbiter Mission. Such discussions always encourage students to look forward and enter into a new world of concept thinking.

Trained on a wide variety of technical concepts involving design analysis and manufacturing of Airplanes, Rockets, Missiles, Space Launch Vehicles, UAVs, etc, UPES aero-engineers are performing ahead with time. Recently a couple of them have been awarded at various competition for performing best in the area. These include NASA Systems Engineering Award. Among others, few were involved in creating in-house UPESSAT – UPES Nano Satellite Flight Test by creating a prototype using a weather balloon at low altitude test, which is the first nano satellite made in Uttarakhand. Harsimran is happy to have received an opportunity to attend the Global Community Development Program at Kiev, Ukraine for 1 month under the Summer Camp project organized by AIESEC in Kiev, Ukraine. Harsimran Taggar – a student of B tech Computer Science Engineering with specialization in Mainframe Technology 2011-15 Batch, UPES. During the project, Harsimran worked with children of different age groups from different countries and participated in organizing lessons and games, showing variety of world culture.
