This is a 2-year Organic Chemistry postgraduate program in M.Sc. Chemistry, which trains students in core concepts of M.Sc. Chemistry with a specialisation in Organic Chemistry. Students interested in the preparation for JRF-NET/GATE exams receive free support.

While specialising in Organic Chemistry, students will enhance their knowledge, training, and expertise in the chemistry of bio-organic molecules, heterocycles, and natural products. The knowledge will help students apply their skills in the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and chemical synthesis industries.

UPES’ curriculum framework is holistic in its overall structure and yet focuses on the individual need of the student to discover, experience, explore and challenge. Along with the core subject, students have the option to choose from subject-focused specialisations. They are also allowed to choose minor/exploratory subject from other schools at UPES that are: School of Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences, School of Design, School of Modern Media, and School of Liberal Studies.

Further, based on the multifaceted needs of the global workplace and evolving lifestyles, the curriculum offers Signature and Life-Skills courses through School for Life. To round off this learning experience, students are required to do mandatory internships in the social sector, government/public sector, and industry. The combinations available for students to pick and choose from are endless, ensuring both depth and width of knowledge.

PEO-1: To prepare students for successfully practising in diverse fields of Chemical Sciences, addressing real-world problems in their domain.
PEO-2: To train students for state-of-the-art techniques required for high-end interdisciplinary research.
PEO-3:

To develop graduates as successful professionals in industry, academia, entrepreneurship, government, and allied fields.

PEO-4: To provide overall grooming to graduates by inculcating leadership skills and sensitising them towards social, ethical, and moral values for serving society through their expertise in Chemical Sciences.
PSO1: Understand advanced-level concepts in organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, their biological aspects, and their application in day-to-day life.
PSO2:

Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and instrumentation to perform experiments, obtain data and interpret it by applying various theoretical principles.

PSO3: Execute new ideas in the field of research and development using principles and techniques of Chemistry learned through seminars and dissertations.
