As per the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, UPES has been ranked 46 among universities, with a rank of 28 in Law, 41 in Management, and a rank of 42 in Engineering. As per the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025, UPES now stands in the 501-600 band globally and 7th in India, with a leap of over 300 ranks from 2024. In addition to this, the university has been ranked the No.1 private university in academic reputation in India by the QS World University Rankings 2025. It is among the top 2% of universities in the world.
UPES has also been accredited by NAAC with a grade ‘A’ and has received 5 stars on Employability (placements) by globally acclaimed QS Rating. The university has had 100% placements over the last five years. Forty-six (46) faculty members of UPES are among the world’s top 2% researchers as per Stanford University list.
UPES offers graduate and postgraduate programs through its seven schools: School of Advanced Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Design, School of Law, School of Business, School of Health Sciences & Technology, and School of Liberal Studies and Media with 16,000+ students and 1,500+ faculty and staff members.
About Mechanical Cluster
The Mechanical Cluster at UPES which started off with its flagship program in Automotive Design Engineering in 2005, has today, grown to offer a world-class blend of specialisations and expertise from a host of cutting-edge and concurrent technologies ranging from thermal-fluid sciences, aerospace, automotive design, manufacturing, materials, e-mobility mechatronics and robotics, etc.
The Aerospace Engineering program at UPES has been a significant contributor to aerospace education in India since its establishment in 2006. As part of the broader School of Advanced Engineering, which was founded in 2003, the department has grown to become a dynamic hub for training future aerospace professionals. Setting it apart is the department’s approach to fostering an ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship, scientific research, interdisciplinarity and academic excellence.
This approach ensures students have a strong foundation for professional engineering and scientific careers in the private/public industry, as well as in R&D institutions across the world. The well-rounded programs in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at undergraduate and postgraduate levels allow students to opt for specialisations in Space Technology, Avionics and Defence Technology.
With a curriculum co-developed with industry partners, a strong focus on research (including a dedicated Research Centre with high-performance computing facilities), and active collaborations with leading organisations such as Airbus, Boeing, and ISRO, UPES aims to prepare students for diverse roles across the aviation, space, and defence sectors. The Department also offers MTech. programs in Computational Fluid Dynamics and E-Mobility, and the Doctoral Program in Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering.
About NSC
National Scpace Convention (NSC) – an immersive exploration of the frontiers of space! Organised by UPES, bringing together visionaries, experts, and enthusiasts in the aerospace industry for a dynamic exchange of ideas and insights.
The success of NSC 3.0 was a significant milestone, contributing substantial value to a diverse array of students and positively impacting UPES. Building upon this achievement, NSC 4.0 is aimed to elevate our aspirations even higher.
In NSC 4.0, we aspire to create an immersive and enlightening experience for all participants by meticulously crafting a diverse itinerary that unravels the intricacies of space exploration. From thought-provoking keynote sessions to interactive conference, captivating panel discussions, and futuristic exhibits, every facet of NSC 4.0 is designed to unravel the mysteries of the cosmos.
We invite you to join us on this transformative journey, where innovation, collaboration, and progress converge to shape the future of space exploration and industry.
Objectives
- Promote and document the recent developments in the fields of aerospace engineering and defence sector.
- Exchange technical/scientific information with representatives of various industries and R&D organisations.
- Collaborate and explore scientific solutions towards National and Global missions.
