4th - 5th October

Agriculture constitutes an important aspect of the Indian economy with 64% of rural employment. In agriculture production, India is the leader in many sectors; it is the world's largest producer of milk, pulses, and jute, and ranks as the second-largest producer of rice, wheat, sugarcane, groundnut, vegetables, fruit, and cotton. It is also one of the leading producers of spices, fish, poultry, livestock and plantation crops. Despite a large quantum of production and huge manpower deployment, the contribution of agriculture and allied sector to Indian GDP is mere 16%. The condition of farmers and rural economy is still not at par with their urban counterpart, calling for serious management and government attention. There is an urgent need for awareness among the farmers about the latest practices in farming, crop protection, value addition, and revenue realization. UPES as an institution is attempting to create a platform on above-said issues by organizing “6th Agro-Horticulture Supply Chain Conference on 4th-5th Oct 2019 (AHSCC-2019)” which facilitates deliberations on Financial, Technical and Economic issues in Agro and Horticulture Supply Chain by researchers, experts, academicians and policy makers.

Since 2014, the Transportation Department and General Management Department, SoB, UPES, Dehradun has been organizing annually Agro-Horticulture Supply Chain Conference to generate knowledge in the area of agribusiness and supply chain management. The conference provides a platform to bring together thinkers and practitioners from the field of agricultural marketing, operations and extension services to create an environment of idea exchange.
