FDP on Research Methodology: Tools and Techniques in Qualitative Research by UPES School of Business
School of Business, UPES, recently held a week-long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Research Methodology organized between the 21st and 25th of June 2022. This third edition of FDP was designed for qualitative research, emphasizing innovative instruments and methodologies for qualitative data analysis. The FDP was attended by 220 participants, including academicians from national and international universities and corporate professionals. The FDP had a sizeable external outreach with more than 50% of participants being external research scholars and industry professionals. Both presenters and attendees joined from global locations, such as Argentina, Africa, etc., making this a truly worldwide FDP. Dr. P C Bahuguna from the School of Business led the organizing team of this FDP supported by the full-time research scholars, faculty members, and Director of Academic operations Mr. Amit Narayan Kapur from the School of Business.
The five-day research period was broken into three sections. The first segment consisted of the first two days of sessions on literature review methodology. It also provided hands-on instruction on software currently used to conduct a literature review. Professors Rameshwar Dubey from Liverpool John Moores University, Prof. Satish Kumar from MNIT Jaipur, and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur from Pearl Academy led sessions on the first two days of the conference.
Day 2 and Day 3 of the second phase focused on qualitative data analysis techniques (Laddering Technique, Content Analysis, etc.). Hands-on workshops with Atlas Ti were conducted. Dr. Anita Sengar from the School of Business, UPES, and Dr. Cyril Foroon from Montpellier Business School, France took sessions on the second and third days.
The third phase of the FDP featured seminars on producing high-quality research and what editors anticipate from a manuscript. Prof. Tithi Bhatnagar from the Centre for Leadership and Change led lectures on conducting high-quality research.
Prof. Constantin Blome from Sussex business school UK, and Prof. Yigit Kazancoglu from Yasar University, Turkey joined as guest editors at the editors' meeting session, with Dr. P.C. Bahuguna from the School of Business, UPES as the moderator of the event.
The FDP was well received by the participants with more than 90% of participants providing a feedback rating of four or more stars on a 5-star rating scale across all the sessions of this 05 Day FDP.
