National Client Counselling Competition

 

A Report on National Client Counselling Competition 2020

 Client Counseling Association, UPES, School of Law successfully organised the 8th National Client Counseling Competition, 2020 on 21st to 22nd November 2020 in virtual mode. The theme of the competition included a wide range of laws consisting of Labour Law, Cyber Laws, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Company Law, Arbitration Law, and Transfer of Property Law along with other codified and uncodified laws relevant to the theme. The theme, was extensively covered in the propositions and was praised by all. There were two preliminary rounds, conducted on 21 November, where 20 teams competed and their aggregate score resulted in selection of 4 teams for semi-final rounds on 22  November 2020, followed by the final round between the two shortlisted teams.

 

Many reputed institutions such as University Law College, Bangalore University, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore, O.P Jindal Global University, Sonipat, National Law University, Delhi, Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, Law Centre 1, Faculty of Law, DU etc. participated in it.

 

The Competition was won by TC-18 (Army Institute of Law, Mohali), the runner up was TC-06 (National Law University, Delhi), the Best Counsel went to TC-17 Counsel 2- Sarvotham Naik (Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar). The winners were given certificates of merit and cash prizes worth Rs 20,000.

 

 A team of 20 law experts including Ms. Aishwarya Vats, Ms.. Monica Pradyot, Ms. Preetika Sharma, Ms.. Mehreen Manzoor, Ms. Ananya Gupta, Ms. Siddheshwari Ranawat, Mr. Chetan Bajaj, Mr. Akshat Darbari, Ms. Niharika Behl, Mr.. Shivansh Agarwal, Mr. Akshay Sengar, Mr. Saif Rehman Ansari, Mr. Bharat Sharma, Ms.. Kamakshi Gupta, Mr. Amartya Shrivastava, Mr. Lavkesh Bhambhani, Mr. Shakeib Naru, Mr. Adhil and Mr. Shantanu Devansh judged the preliminary rounds on 21st November, 2020.

 

 The semi-finals were judged by renowned advocates, gratitude to Mr. Hrishikesh Jha, Mr. Gaurav Bhalla, Ms. Shikha Dhandharia, Mr. Yash Prakash, Mr. Saket Sharma, Mr. Dhaval Mehrotra, Mr. Aditya Mishra and Mr. RHA Sikander for their kind support.

 

 For the final rounds, Mr. Narendra Hooda, Mr. J.P. Singh, and Ms. Neelam Rathore did the honour of judging and enlightened the audience on the finer points of client counseling.

 

The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate Supreme Court of India, as the chief guest for the ceremony.

 Ms. Sukanya Sharma, Ms. Smriddhi Singh, Mr. Vishesh Chandok, Mr. Sunishi Tiwari and all members of CCA worked day and night to make this event impactful.
