Shale Gas and CBM Exploration and Exploitation
The Virtual International Workshop ‘Unconventional Resources: Shale Gas & CBM Exploration & Exploitation’ was jointly organised on June 25 and 26, 2020, by University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (India) and University of Texas Permian Basin (USA), with an aim to provide continued learning opportunity to the students, researchers and industrial professionals during the period of COVID-19 pandemic.
The workshop covered a wide spectrum of energy exploration and exploitation topics, with a special focus on shale gas and CBM. The talks were delivered by experts from University of Texas Austin (USA), University of Texas Permian Basin (USA), University of Adelaide (Australia), University of Alaska (USA), ScientiaGroup (Colombia), Stratum Reservoir (USA), ONGC (India), RIL (India), CSIR-CMFR (India), IIT Kharagpur (India), GERMI (India), Accenture (India) and UPES (India). A total of 1870 participants registered for the workshop and 1600+ participants attended from Asia (>70%), Africa (10%), Europe (7%), Australia (6%), North America (4%) and South America (3%). More than 15 industries and 30+ universities participated in the workshop. Participants were from various international oil and gas industries, such as Kuwait Oil Company, Petronas, Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, SONATRACH (Algeria), Bangladesh Gas Co., Director General of Hydrocarbon, Vedant, ONGC, CIL, CMPDI, EOGEPL, BPRL, etc. Most of the participants were from reputed academic institutes and research institutes, such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, CSIRCMFR, CSIR NGRI, IIT Ghy, Federal University of Technology Nigeria, Federal Urdu University Pakistan, Alexadia University Egypt, University of Lagos, Nigeria, PDPU, RGIPT, Dibrugarh University, MSU Baroda, etc.
