Dr. Abhinav Sharma

Dr. Abhinav Sharma received his B. Tech. from H. N. B. Garhwal University, Srinagar, India, in 2009 and the M. Tech. and Ph. D. from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India, in 2011 and 2016. He has total teaching and research experience of 12 years and has published 72 research papers in SCI/Scopus indexed journals and conferences. He has also published 10 authored/edited books with renowned international publisher such as CRC Press, De Gruyter, IEEE River Publisher from USA, Germany and Denmark. Moreover, he has been granted 5 Indian Patents and is actively involved in delivering e-talks and technical sessions on role of artificial intelligence and machine learning in engineering.       

Before joining UPES, Dr. Abhinav Sharma was pursuing his Ph. D. in Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Prior to his doctoral program he worked as an Assistant Professor in Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology, Dwarahat for one and a half year.

Dr. Abhinav Sharma teaching philosophy is to make student understand both the theoretical and practical aspects of core engineering subjects. He focuses on delivering the course content with real world examples where the students can relate the fundamental aspects of core subjects with the state-of-the-art technology. He also incorporates software tools such as MATLAB and Python in teaching so that students can better analyze the real-world engineering problems. 

Dr. Abhinav Sharma has taught diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in his academic carrier. He has taught Analog Electronics, Digital Electronics, Signal & System, Computer Networks, Analog and Digital Communication, Microprocessor and Embedded System. He also teaches cutting edge computer-oriented courses which includes Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Computer Vision and Soft Computing Techniques.

Dr. Abhinav Sharma has been recognized among the top 2% of researchers by Stanford University in 2024 and 2025. He successfully completed the Seed and SHODH projects funded by UPES, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence and embedded systems in the field of agriculture. He has publications in IEEE, Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, and many other national and international journals and conferences.

Dr. Abhinav Sharma has guided various multidisciplinary projects in undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is guiding research scholars on the applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms in diverse fields of electrical and electronics engineering. His team of research scholars are working on developing novel and hybrid swarm intelligence algorithms for antenna array pattern synthesis and solar parameter estimation problem; machine learning algorithms for non-cooperative target recognition using RCS data and computer vision applications in biomedical engineering and precision agriculture.
