Dr. Surbhi Verma

Surbhi Verma has submitted her Ph.D. thesis to the Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, in 2024. She holds a master’s degree from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), reflecting her strong academic foundation in commerce and finance. Her research interests lie in the areas of Sustainable Finance and Behavioral Finance, focusing on emerging trends in socially responsible investments. She has presented her research work at esteemed institutions such as National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), IIM Bodh Gaya, and IIM Jammu, engaging with leading scholars and contributing to meaningful academic discussions.   

Before joining UPES, Surbhi Verma was at Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce (University of Delhi), where she worked as a Lecturer, contributing to undergraduate education and academic development. During her Ph.D. journey, she also served as a Teaching Assistant for MBA students at IIT Roorkee.

Surbhi Verma's teaching philosophy revolves around creating an engaging and interactive learning environment. She believes in fostering student participation by encouraging open discussions and critical thinking. By incorporating the case study method, she helps students apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios. Surbhi also uses multimedia tools and collaborative learning to make the class dynamic and thought-provoking. 

Surbhi Verma teaches courses such as Financial Management, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, and International Financial Management. Through her engaging and collaborative teaching approach, she fosters a stimulating learning environment that promotes the intellectual development of her students. By integrating lectures, active class participation, brainstorming, problem-solving, and case studies, Surbhi ensures her students are well-equipped to succeed both academically and professionally. 

Surbhi Verma is a recipient of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Research Fellowship for undertaking her Ph.D. She also received a grant from the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) to present her paper at the 4th Annual International Capital Markets Conference, NISM, Mumbai, 2023. 

Surbhi Verma has published articles in esteemed ABDC-indexed journals such as the Australasian Accounting, Business and Finance Journal and the International Journal of Accounting and Finance. She has also attended several distinguished international conferences, including the 4th Annual International Capital Markets Conference, NISM Mumbai, the International Conference on Sustainable Goals, IIM Bodh Gaya, and the International Finance and Accounting Conference, IIM Jammu. Additionally, Surbhi has worked on a project with IFKON-STARBAG, further enhancing her practical experience in the field.
