Profile Summary

Dr. Nairitee Sil is an Assistant Professor in the School of Business at UPES, specialising in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management. She earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee, where her research focused on women’s leadership in academia. Her work explores the systemic barriers that hinder women’s advancement in higher education leadership and draws on interdisciplinary theories to propose inclusive and evidence-based solutions.

Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Sil gained valuable industry experience as Deputy Manager - Human Resources at Ashok Leyland, where she worked in employee engagement, CSR, and HR operations. She holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Delhi and a bachelor’s degree in English, from Miranda House, University of Delhi.

With a strong foundation in both research and practice, Dr. Sil brings a unique blend of academic insight and industry perspective to her teaching. Her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to advancing equity and leadership in organisations, and UPES marks the beginning of her full-time academic career.

Work Experience

Prior to joining UPES, Dr. Nairitee worked at Ashok Leyland as Deputy Manager - Human Resources, where she was involved in employee lifecycle (onboarding to exit), employee engagement, CSR initiatives and HR operations. Her corporate tenure provided hands-on exposure to organisational dynamics and people management. During her Ph.D. at IIT Roorkee, she also served as a teaching assistant for MBA and Executive MBA courses in Human Resource Management, HR Analytics, and Managerial Communication, strengthening her academic expertise and pedagogical skills.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Nairitee’s teaching philosophy emphasises experiential learning through the Socratic method, encouraging critical inquiry, active participation and real-time problem-solving. She strives to create an interactive classroom where students engage in case-based discussions, role-plays and simulations that mirror complex business scenarios. By fostering open dialogue and diverse perspectives, she helps students connect theoretical frameworks with practical challenges in human resources and organisational behaviour. Her goal is to equip future managers with strategic thinking, decision-making and interpersonal skills, which are essential for the ever-evolving dynamic workplace. She sees the classroom as a collaborative space, where knowledge is co-created and applied to real-world business contexts.

Awards and Grants

Dr. Nairitee is a recipient of the Junior Research Fellowship (UGC-JRF) awarded by the University Grants Commission in 2017. She has received the Prof. S.H. Pathak Memorial Award for academic excellence in Social Policy course during her Masters from the University of Delhi. She was awarded the Certificate of Merit by CBSE for outstanding academic performance and ranking among the top 0.1% of candidates nationwide in English Core in the Class 12 board examinations.

Scholarly Activities

Dr. Nairitee Sil is actively involved in academic research, publication, and conference engagement. She has multiple research papers published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work at several international and national conferences. Several of her research manuscripts are currently under peer review in reputed journals, and she continues to explore new research collaborations and projects. Dr. Sil remains engaged with the broader academic community through participation in scholarly panels, peer discussions, and capacity-building initiatives. She aims to contribute to impactful, evidence-based knowledge creation across domains in management and the social sciences.
