The global demand for qualified medical professionals is accelerating at an unprecedented pace. The healthcare sector is facing a significant talent shortfall. According to the World Health Organisation, there will be a projected deficit of 10 million healthcare workers by 2030, driven by ageing populations, the rise in chronic diseases, and the uneven distribution of medical expertise and professionals across regions.

In India, the competition for medical education is intense. Each year, more than 2.3 million students compete for an MBBS seat, yet fewer than 4% secure admission. This disparity highlights the urgent need for accessible, high-quality medical education pathways that can meet both national and global healthcare demands.

Meanwhile, countries like the United States and Canada are already facing critical physician shortages. These are projected to reach 124,000 in the US and 78,700 in Canada over the next decade.

For students passionate about medicine, the 5-year B.Sc./MD program offers a compelling opportunity. It not only equips you with a globally relevant medical education but also prepares you to make a meaningful impact in healthcare systems around the world.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the 5-year B.Sc./MD program, offered in collaboration between UPES and the Medical University of the Americas (MUA), are uniquely positioned to pursue a wide array of medical careers across global healthcare systems.
