Dr. Najul Laskar

Dr. Najul Laskar is an accomplished researcher and educator with expertise in financial management, security analysis and portfolio management, corporate accounting, financial accounting, accounting for managers, cost accounting, Indian financial system, and financial markets. Dr. Laskar holds a Master’s in Commerce (M. Com in Accounting & Finance) degree from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, where he graduated as a Gold Medallist in 2012. He earned his Ph.D. in 2018 from the same university. Throughout his career, Dr. Laskar has contributed significantly to the research field with several impactful papers published in reputable journals like Social Responsibility Journal, Asian Review of Accounting, International Journal of Corporate Governance and many more.

Dr. Laskar is an experienced educator with approximately over seven years of teaching experience. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the School of Business, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Dehradun. He has previously taught at various prestigious institutions like Ajeenkya DY Patil University and Jain University in India.

Dr. Laskar's teaching philosophy revolves around his commitment to establishing an environment that fosters and motivates student learning. Within his classes, he has integrated certain aspects of the "flipped classroom" approach. This entails assigning pre-reading materials to students, where they are required to read designated sections of the textbook or other resources before attending class. Upon arrival, they engage in a brief quiz based on the pre-reading, which serves as a basis for in-class assignments that involve practical applications using real data and scenarios. Furthermore, Dr. Laskar is dedicated to incorporating inquiry-based and experiential learning pedagogy in his classroom approach.

Dr. Laskar is a proficient instructor in a diverse range of subjects, including financial management, security analysis and portfolio management, corporate accounting, financial accounting, accounting for managers, cost accounting, Indian financial system, and financial markets. With expertise in these areas, he imparts comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to students, enabling them to navigate the complexities of finance and accounting. Dr. Laskar's teaching approach combines theoretical foundations with real-world applications, ensuring that students gain a holistic understanding of the subject matter and are well-equipped to excel in their academic and professional pursuits.

Dr. Laskar has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence throughout his educational journey. In recognition of his outstanding performance, he was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for securing the first class first position in his master’s program. This accomplishment reflects his dedication and commitment to academic pursuits. Additionally, Dr. Laskar's research contributions have garnered recognition and accolades. He received the Best Paper Award at an esteemed international conference organized by the Research Development Association and Research Development Research Foundation, in collaboration with Central University Pondicherry.

Dr. Laskar has showcased exceptional leadership skills by leading international collaborative research teams in the field of corporate sustainability practices and corporate governance. Currently, he collaborates with esteemed professors from IIM-Kashipur and North Eastern Hill University to investigate gender diversity at both the board and workforce levels. His previous research on corporate sustainability reporting practices in Asia has gained significant recognition at national and international levels, contributing to the understanding of sustainable business practices. Dr. Laskar's work has the potential to influence industry practices, policymaking, and societal advancements.
