Dr. Prateek Gupta received the B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, India, in 2008, M.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, India, in 2011, and a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India, in 2019. He has research and teaching experience of 11 years in his academic journey. His research interests include bio-inspired optimization algorithms, wireless communications, sensor networks, machine learning, and fuzzy systems. He has published several research articles in SCI/Scopus-indexed Journals and at national and international conferences. Two patents have been granted and 2 patents published as a part of his research activities.

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Gupta was at the Department of Computer Science and Technology, NIT Jalandhar as a research scholar.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Gupta’s teaching philosophy centers on equipping students with a strong bedrock of technical knowledge. Engineering, being a discipline demanding profound comprehension of fundamental principles, theories, and their practical implementations, forms the core of my approach. He committed to fostering a captivating and interactive learning atmosphere that stimulates active engagement, curiosity, and critical reasoning. To achieve this, he integrates diverse teaching methods such as lectures, demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and case studies. Dr. Gupta believes that the goal of education is to empower students with a solid conceptual foundation that will serve as a sturdy scaffold throughout their journey in engineering education and beyond into their professional careers.

Courses Taught

Dr. Gupta teaches Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Theory of Computation, Compiler Design, and Computer Networks.

Awards and Grants

Dr. Gupta bagged Uttarakhand-SET for Lectureship in 2012. He has also received the MHRD scholarships for both M.Tech (NIT Hamirpur) and PhD (NIT Jalandhar) during his tenure.

Scholarly Activities

Dr. Gupta actively mentors numerous projects across different academic levels, and some of these projects under his guidance have been submitted for patent registration.
