Dr. Mishra's research primarily focuses on utilising DFT-based calculations to explore various applications, such as gas sensing, catalysts for CO2 conversion, and 2D nanomaterials for electronics. He has authored over 60 papers in renowned journals, including Advanced Functional Materials and Journal of Material Chemistry C. 

Additionally, Dr. Mishra has received research funding from national and international agencies like DST, SERB, FICCI, and Materials Square. These funded projects enable him to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge and addressing global challenges in energy, sustainability, and technological innovation. His expertise, publication record, and funded projects demonstrate his commitment to advancing scientific understanding and finding solutions to real-world problems. His research in computational physics and Materials Modeling and Simulations has contributed significantly to the field of energy materials, CO2 capture and conversion, and electronic materials.

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Mishra served as a senior postdoc research associate at University College London from 2013 to 2016 and was a DST Young Scientist fellow at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore from 2010 to 2013. He also worked as a postdoc fellow at Texas A&M University and Banaras Hindu University from 2009 to 2010. In addition to his role at UPES, Dr. Mishra is also serving as a research visitor at the Southern University of Denmark. In the past, he has taught in esteemed institutes like Amity University and the University of Lucknow.

Research Interests

Dr. Mishra's research interests encompass Materials Modeling and Simulations, DFT and MD-based simulations, and Machine Learning Applications. He focuses on catalysts for CO2 conversion to chemicals and fuels, 2-D Nanomaterials for electronics, Gas Sensors, Photovoltaic materials, and Thermoelectric materials.

Teaching Philosophy

He has secured notable research grants, including the DST SERB-SURE Grant on Engineering Materials for Integrated CO2 capture and conversion, and the Indo-Belarus DST-SERB grant. Dr. Mishra's research interests extend to various areas, such as engineering 2D materials for carbon capture and conversion, designing vdW-heterostructures for nanoelectronics applications, and studying 2D carbon-based heterostructures. These projects have been supported by prestigious grants like the CV Raman Indo-African Research Grants. Additionally, Dr. Mishra received a startup grant from UPES, Dehradun, for his work on novel catalysts for CO2 capture and conversion. His research efforts have been further recognized through the DST Fast Track Grant (2010), which supported his study on the conformation and dynamics of conducting polymers.
