Profile Summary

Dr Rawat is an expert in Designer Food Product Development with 5 years of experience. Her thrust area includes, malnutrition assessment and eradication, underutilized indigenous food product analysis, waste management, menstrual hygiene.

She has been actively working in the field of social impact research, target groups are majorly infants, adolescents and women in reproductive years.

She pursued her under-graduation and post-graduation from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan. In year 2019 she was conferred Doctorate in Food Science and Nutrition from Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan.

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr Rawat worked as Teaching Assistant at Banasthali Vidyapith, Jaipur, Rajasthan during her Doctorate, later she joined Quantum University for a year. Lately, she is working on her start-up Millet Station with few of her students and rural farmers from Uttarakhand State.

Research Interests

Dr Rawat is actively working on millets native to the Uttarakhand region apart from other indigenous food products. Currently, she is working as a Principal investigator in German govt. Project and United Nation – World Food Programme on assessment of Malnutrition in three districts of Uttarakhand and Rice fortification, respectively.

She is an avid social researcher and known for the community work done in Dehradun and nearby villages.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr Rawat is a passionate teacher who believes in experiential and project-based learning. As a part of her regular teaching she keeps students involved in different community-based studies, where classroom learning is transferred to the community. Her prime focus is on the students needing help to match the pace. Her teaching pedagogy revolves around the need of the students.

Courses Taught

Dr Rawat has taught courses such as Fundamentals of Food Science, Principles of Nutrition, Nutrition through Lifecycle, Medical Terminology, Food Chemistry, Human Nutrition, Institutional Food Service Management, Sports Nutrition, Public Health and Nutrition, Ethics and Food Laws.

Awards and Grants

Dr Rawat has been granted 7.5 lakhs from United Nation agency World Food Programme (2022) for supporting Uttarakhand rice millers and govt of UK on Rice fortification.

Scholarly Activities

Dr Rawat works intensively with NGO’s, Uttarakhand govt. and community in the field of Nutrition and Health. She has given multiple guest lectures to colleges and Universities in her area of expertise.
