TERMS & CONDITIONS

ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-21

These terms and conditions shall apply to student who enroll for any of the Under-Graduate programs offered by various Schools of UPES during the Academic Year 2020-21 under below mentioned category:

CATEGORY I. UPES EMPLOYMENT /PLACEMENT ASSURANCE

If the student enrolls for any of the Under-Graduate programs at UPES during the Academic Year 2020-21,UPES assures him/her the employment/ placement subject to his/her qualifying the employment/ relevant criteria set by the University. If UPES, fails to do so, the student shall be entitled to 51% tuition fee waiver for a Post-Graduate program at the university, or at any ‘Domestic Academic Partner Institutes’, as may be notified from time to time; or a 35% tuition fee waiver for a Post-Graduate program at any ‘International Academic Partner Institutes’, as may be notified from time to time as per the UPES policies.  This UPES Employment Assurance is subject to further conditions which are set out below. UPES can withdraw this Assurance at any time from any student who has not already enrolled.

As per general understanding, the Career Service Department of the University would try that the eligible student seeks early employment/placement till 31st of August of the Calendar Year. If the university is unable to fulfil its placement commitment, the student will be entitled to pursue Post-Graduate programs in any of our specified institutions subject to the following terms and conditions.

‘UPES Global Academic Partner Institutions’ /’Domestic Academic Partner Institutes’
The opportunity to study Post Graduation Program shall be available only at UPES or any of its Academic Partner institutions i.e. Global Academic Partner Institutes and/or Domestic Academic Partner Institutes, as may be notified from time to time.

Additional Cost Any fees which is over and above the tuition fees will be considered as an additional cost. The scope and extent of additional cost shall include but not limited to:
  • The costs relating to accommodation, living, food, subsistence, travel, stationery, computer or computer equipment, etc.;
  • any registration, enrolment or other fees charged either by UPES or any of UPES Global or Domestic Academic Partner Institution in connection with your studies;
  • library charges;
  • printing charges; and
  • costs associated with retaking any assessment etc.
  • any other additional charges as applicable from time to time
Completion Date UPES career service department offers placements till 30th of September of the Calendar Year post that students will be entitled to a Post-Graduate Program in any of our Global or Domestic Academic Partner Institution
Qualifying Job Any full-time or part-time job in India or abroad including paid internships offered to students who are eligible for the qualifying job

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the benefits of the Assured Employment/Placement Assurance

  • The student must have enrolled at UPES for any of its Under-Graduate Programs in the Academic Year 2020-21
  • The student must not intermit or defer at any point of registration with UPES for his/her Under-Graduate Studies
  • The student must be eligible for the award of the degree at the end of the registration period with UPES
  • The student must have an attendance record of at least 85% in each of the semesters
  • The student should have not been debarred for appearing in the end semester examination due to shortage of attendance, disciplinary grounds or any other action which is against the code of conduct stated by the University
  • The student must pass all his/her courses in the first attempt
  • The student should have not appeared in any improvement exam for any of the courses for the entire duration of the program
  • The student must comply with the Main Terms as well as these terms relating to the UPES Employment/Placement Assurance
  • The student must consistently use his/her best endeavors to obtain Qualifying Employment throughout till 30th of September of the relevant Academic Year
  • The student must consistently engage with UPES Careers Services department to seek Qualifying Employment till 30th of September of the relevant Academic Year
  • The student must apply formally through the Career Service Department his/her intent / interest to pursue the Post-Graduate program in our Global or Domestic Academic Partner Institutions
  • The student should obtain a minimum CGPA of 7.9 or above to qualify for pursuing the Post-Graduate program at our Global or Domestic Academic Partner Institutions
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the Global or Domestic Partner Institutions during their stay. Students violating the rules and regulations of the host institution will be subject to disciplinary action by UPES

Career Services Eligibility Criteria:

  • A student shall complete all the required documentation such as updated resume, student profile etc. and submit the same with UPES Career Services Department within the desired format in the specified timeframe 
  • A student shall have applied for at least 90% of the course-wise available opportunities for placements both in core and non-core sectors hosted by UPES Career Services Department both on as well as off campus
  • A student shall consistently engage with the Career Services team to seek qualifying employment throughout the qualifying period.
  • A student shall have 100% participation in the Career Services initiatives, such as employability Boot camp, Placement Selection and Improvement program , interaction with industry experts,  and alumni, workshops, interview preparations, resume writing, coaching and mentoring sessions by faculty and career service representatives or any such initiatives taken from time to time.  
  • A student has to complete summer training and submit the completion certificate to the faculty mentor within the stipulated time frame 
  • A student shall be considered to have availed the Placement Assurance:
    • If he/she obtain or accept placement during the qualifying period but do not join or commence the employment;
    • If he/she commences the placement during the qualifying period but leaves for any reason thereafter;
    • A student will be deemed to be placed if UPES offers him an employment which as per UPES offers them a role in the industry / organization commensurate with their academic credentials.
    • A student will be deemed to be placed notwithstanding revocation of the offer by the company at a subsequent stage on the grounds of his performance. 

Career Services Debarred Criteria:

  • A student shall be considered as DEBARRED from the Placement Assurance if he/she:
    • Does not appear for the scheduled placement process on time without a formal email/written intimation at least 24 hours. in advance to his/her respective career services officer. 
    • Does not behave professionally during the entire placement process.
    • Denies for more than 03 profiles in a row offered by UPES Career services department.
    • Misbehaves or is involved in unprofessional conduct with the mentor / officer /client / representative of the organization during the summer training. 
    • Misbehaves or is involved in unprofessional conduct with the SPR / CSO / Faculty or any other officer of UPES and the recruiter pre / during or post recruitment process. 
    • Does not fulfill or complete the assignments / projects etc. as required by the Employer within the required timelines. 
    • Makes derogatory statements regarding the placement organization / company before / during or after the placement process.
    • Willfully makes any act, statement or gesture in order to not get selected for any placement opportunity.
    • Does not adhere to and improve upon any feedback given by the Career services team.
  • A student should not have any fee dues or other dues (Library / IT / security / resource center etc.) 
  • A student being the brand ambassador and representative of UPES shall behave with utmost professionalism during the entire process of placement and after joining.
  • At all times, a student shall provide accurate and correct information without withholding or concealing any material facts related to (but not limited to) contact information, career path, employment status.
  • All the communication regarding the placement process will only be shared on the student’s official UPES email address. The student is required to check the email regularly and get in touch with their respective SPR’s and CSO in case of any query.
  • A student must consistently use his/her best endeavours to obtain the qualifying placement opportunity throughout the qualifying period. 
  • UPES expects that you will be employed in the first organization that you join through the Placement services for at least 2 years in the best interest of your professional growth, reliability, and credibility.

Additional matters:

  • UPES 100% Qualifying Job Assurance is not to be combined with any other offer of reimbursement, rebate or credit offered by UPES.
  • If there is a conflict between these terms and the Main Terms or any other terms issued by UPES relevant to the UPES 100% Qualifying Job Assurance, then these terms shall prevail.
  • The student may not transfer any of his/her rights under these terms to any other person (including a company or business).
  • If there is a delay in UPES carrying out its obligations to a student under these terms, caused by circumstances beyond the reasonable control of UPES, then UPES shall not be liable to him/her (or any other person) for the consequences of that delay.
  • UPES’s maximum liability to a student for any claim (whether contractual or non-contractual) under these conditions is limited to the maximum of 35% tuition fee waiver for a Post Graduate Program at any of Pearl Academy International Partner Institutes, as amended from time to time and maximum of 51% tuition fee waiver for a Post Graduate Program at any of our Pearl Academy Domestice Partner Institutes, as amended from time to time, assuming he/she had made a successful claim.
  • These terms are governed by Indian law and both UPES and the student concerned shall irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Dehradun courts for any claim arising under or in connection with these terms and any non-contractual obligation arising out of or in connection with them.
  • If this Assurance is being prevented, hindered or delayed by a Force Majeure Event (as defined below) UPES’s obligations under this Assurance shall forthwith stand terminated on happening of Force Majeure Event.  “Force Majeure Event” shall mean any event due to any cause beyond the reasonable control of UPES, including, without limitation, recession, sabotage, fire, flood, acts of terrorism, explosion, epidemic, pandemic, acts of God, civil commotion, strikes or industrial action of any kind, riots, insurrection, war, revolt, and acts and regulations of the Government of India or any of its authorized agencies or of the country of the UPES Global Academic Partner Institution.

If Claim is accepted below terms shall be applicable:

  • Above stated tuition fee waiver for a Post-Graduate Program at any of the Institutes shall be applicable only one time. If the student fails in successfully completing the Post Graduate Program in one attempt, the student has to pay entire fees including tuition fee for continuing its Post Graduate Program. 
  • The waiver shall not include any Additional Costs. The student shall borne solely any Additional Costs throughout the term of the Post Graduate Program;
  • All admissions decisions including entry requirement, course name, curriculum, course offering, fees, commencement dates, availability of course etc. rest solely with Institute (wherever Student opts for admission).
  • Admission to Institute (wherever Student opts for admission), is subject to fulfilment of all entry and eligibility requirements on their respective website from time to time.
  • The lists of UPES Partner institutions are subject to change at any time without intimation.
  • Post Graduate Course must be commenced within 9 months of Completion Date. This deadline may not be extended for any reason.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, the waiver of above stated percentage Tuition Fees waiver may not be set against anything. It may not be exchanged for money, money’s worth or any alternative value, service or other supply.

How does a student claim?

If a student believes that he/she has an eligible claim on the UPES 100% Qualifying Job Assurance, then he/she should apply to Career Service Department within the period 1st October to 31st December of the respective calendar year of the completion of his/her program.

UPES reserves the right to require the student to complete a standard form which it may prepare for this purpose and provide to him/her in due course.

  • To be considered, the application must include the following information:
    • Student’s enrolment details including name and the program attended and when; the Completion Date (with supporting documents); a concise description of:
      • the attempts the student has taken to find Qualifying Job;
      • the contact the student has had with UPES’s Career Service team.
  • When a student submits a complete and correct claim, UPES will consider it and will aim to give its decision in writing no later than sixty (60) days from the date on which it receives a complete and correct claim. The decision may be delayed if he does not quickly respond to requests for further information.
  • In making its decision, UPES may:
    • ask the student for further information; and/or
    • take into account any information and matters which it may reasonably consider to be relevant.
  • The student will submit his/her application through the Career Service Department and his/her application will be endorsed by Head of Department and approved by the Dean concerned.
  • UPES’s management decision will be final and binding on the student.

What information UPES may ask for:

  • In considering the claim of a student, UPES may ask him/her to provide evidence of his/her efforts to secure Qualifying Job and to contact or speak to people that the student had dealt with. In order that the students are able to provide this material when asked, they may be recommended to:
    • keep originals or copies of all letters that they send and receive;
    • retain all e-mails that they send and receive;
    • keep copies of all advertisements that they have responded to; and
    • keep details of any placement agencies that they have approached and the names of any placement consultants that they have dealt with.
  • UPES may ask the UPES Careers Service for information about the contact that any student had made with them.

CATEGORY II. OPPORTUNITY TO PURSUE POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMS

UPES will provide opportunities to its Under-Graduate topper (Gold medalist) students, who voluntarily want to pursue post-graduate programs in any of the UPES Academic Partner Institutions as specified by UPES.

In order to avail this opportunity, the following terms and conditions will apply:

  • You must enroll and start your UG PROGRAM in Academic Year 2020-21 and complete the same within specified duration to obtain UG Program.
  • You must not intermit or defer at any point during the UG PROGRAM.
  • You must pass all your UG PROGRAM assessments at your first attempt in the time set by UPES for students to complete those assessments.
  • You must obtain minimum CGPA 7.5 overall as well as in each semester without having any Referrals / Deferrals.
  • Students will be entitled for up to 100% tuition fee waiver to pursue any of the programs in UPES Academic Partner Institutions within 12 months of completion of UG PROGRAM.
  • Students shall bear travel, visa, commutation, boarding, lodging, subsistence allowances and any other fees that is applicable from time to time.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have complied with the attendance norms of the UPES.
  • All admissions decisions including entry requirement, course name, curriculum, course offering, fees, domain offering, commencement dates, availability of course etc. rest solely with Institutions (wherever Student opts for admission).
  • Admission to UPES Academic Partner Institute (wherever Student opts for admission), is subject to fulfilment of all entry and eligibility requirements on Institute respective website from time to time.
  • The lists of UPES Academic Partner Institutions are subject to change at any time without intimation.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have not been subject to any disciplinary actions during their registration with UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have cleared their under-graduate program in the first attempt
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the respective UPES Academic Partner Institutions during their stay.

CATEGORY III. FOUR WEEK GLOBAL IMMERSION PROGRAM

All students pursuing under-graduate & post-graduate programs at UPES will be entitled for a four-week global immersion program free of cost at any of our Academic Partner Institutions. This course is designed to meet the needs of the global professionals of tomorrow by equipping them with essential technical and soft skills to achieve success in their chosen fields. As an aspiring leader, the students will discover their abilities, hone them and learn the core skills of effective coaches and mentors. The students will learn about the latest innovations and technology to navigate the digital age and maximize growth opportunities.

In order to avail this opportunity, the following terms and conditions will apply:

  • You must enroll and start your UG PROGRAM or PG PROGRAM in Academic Year 2020-21. 
  • You must not intermit or defer at any point during the UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM.
  • You must pass all your UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM assessments at your first attempt in the time set by UPES for students to complete those assessments.
  • You must obtain minimum CGPA 7.0 overall as well as in each UPES program Levels without having any NCP
  • The four weeks Global Immersion Program shall be free of cost in relation only to the program fees for the students.
  • Students shall bear travel, visa, commutation, boarding, lodging, subsistence allowances and any other fees that is applicable from time to time. 
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have complied with the attendance norms of the UPES.
  • All admissions decisions of Immersion Program including entry requirement, course name, curriculum, course offering, fees, commencement dates, availability of course etc. rest solely with Institutions (wherever Student opts for admission).
  • Admission to Institute (wherever Student opts for admission), is subject to fulfilment of all entry and eligibility requirements on Institute respective website from time to time.
  • The lists of UPES Academic Partner Institutions are subject to change at any time without intimation.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have not been subject to any disciplinary actions during their registration with UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have cleared their UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM semesters, in the first attempt
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the Institutions during their stay.
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the Academic Partner Institutions during their stay for global immersion program. Students violating the rules and regulations of the host institution will be subject to disciplinary action by UPES and host Institution both.

CATEGORY IV. ONLINE COURSES:

All student pursuing under-graduate or post-graduate programs across various UPES Schools will be eligible to enroll for the following limited online courses through UPES Academic Partner institutions. Specific eligibility to enroll will be defined by the School Heads.

In order to avail this opportunity, the following terms and conditions will apply:

  • You must enroll and start your UG PROGRAM or PG PROGRAM in Academic Year 2020-21. 
  • You must not intermit or defer at any point during the UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM.
  • You must pass all your UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM assessments at your first attempt in the time set by UPES for students to complete those assessments.
  • You must obtain minimum CGPA 7.0 overall as well as in each UPES program Levels without having any NCs.
  • The Online Courses offered herein shall be free of cost to the students. However, the students shall any other fees/cost that is applicable from time to time. 
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have complied with the attendance norms of the UPES.
  • All admissions decisions including entry requirement, course name, curriculum, course offering, fees, commencement dates, availability of course etc. rest solely with the respective UPES Academic Partner Institutes (wherever Student opts for admission).
  • Admission to Institute (wherever Student opts for admission), is subject to fulfilment of all entry and eligibility requirements on Institute respective website from time to time.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have not been subject to any disciplinary actions during their registration with UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have cleared their UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM semesters, in the first attempt
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the Institutions.

CATEGORY V. INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS:

Every year, a total of maximum 50 international internships, across all schools/programs in UPES shall be offered. The shortlisting criteria shall be the course topper only. In order to avail this opportunity, the following terms and conditions will apply:

  • You must enroll and start your UG Program in Academic Year 2020-21. 
  • You must not intermit or defer at any point during the UG PROGRAM.
  • You must pass all your UG PROGRAM assessments at your first attempt in the time set by UPES for students to complete those assessments.
  • You must obtain minimum CGPA 7.9 overall as well as in each UPES program Levels without having any Referrals / Deferrals.
  • International Internship shall be free of cost to the students. However, the students shall bear travel, visa, commutation, boarding, lodging, subsistence allowances and any other fees that is applicable from time to time. 
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have complied with the attendance norms of the UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have not been subject to any disciplinary actions during their registration with UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have cleared their UG PROGRAM/PG PROGRAM semesters, in the first attempt
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the institutions for the internship during their stay.

CATEGORY VI. SEMESTER ABROAD:

All students pursuing UG programs with any of the UPES Schools having CGPA 7.0 ad above, will be eligible to apply for 100% scholarships (tuition fee only) for one semester abroad (for around 2-3 months), i.e. fall, spring or summer. However, it is clarified that student shall be obligated to pay their said semester fees due for UPES course in India to UPES. The Semester Study abroad shall be at select UPES Academic Partner Institutions only, which shall be notified from time to time. Students will be selected as per the merit list prepared based on the CGPA. The students shall have to write their semester examinations after returning to UPES, to complete their respective degrees at UPES. If a student decides to leave UPES before completing the degree program s/he is enrolled in – s/he will have to pay the tuition fee for such semester abroad program which shall be charged by respective UPES Academic Partner Institutions at the time of leaving the UPES.

In order to avail this opportunity, the following terms and conditions will apply:

  • You must enroll and start your UG PROGRAM in Academic Year 2020-21. 
  • You must not intermit or defer at any point during the UG PROGRAM.
  • You must pass all your UG PROGRAM assessments at your first attempt in the time set by UPES for students to complete those assessments.
  • You must obtain minimum CGPA 7.0 overall as well as in each UPES program Levels without having any Referrals / Deferrals.
  • Students will be entitled for up to 100% tuition fee waiver to pursue the Semester Abroad Program. However, the students shall bear travel, visa, commutation, boarding, lodging, subsistence allowances and any other fees that is applicable from time to time. 
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have complied with the attendance norms of the UPES.
  • All admissions decisions including entry requirement, course name, curriculum, course offering, fees, commencement dates, availability of course etc. rest solely with Institutions (wherever Student opts for admission).
  • Admission to Institute (wherever Student opts for admission), is subject to fulfilment of all entry and eligibility requirements on Institute respective website from time to time.
  • The lists of UPES Academic Partner Institutions are subject to change at any time without intimation.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have not been subject to any disciplinary actions during their registration with UPES.
  • Only those students will be eligible to apply who have cleared their UG PROGRAM semesters, in the first attempt
  • The students will abide by the rules and regulations of the Institutions during their stay.
