Aligned with our University strategic pillars and with our school’s vision to be “The Business School for a Digital World”, this unique initiative of the Afternoon Seminar Series (TASS) at the School of Business brings forth a platform for knowledge dissemination and engagement for Industry and Academia. The sessions will feature Subject matter experts, eminent faculty members from UPES and other institutions, senior industry professionals, and visiting dignitaries as speakers. The first session of TASS organized by The School of Business, UPES was conducted on “Higher Education in the Era of Digital Transformation”, launched on 21st July 2022 at the Energy House, Bidholi campus.
The session featured Prof. Durgesh Pant from Chief Minister’s office, Uttarakhand. Prof. Pant is among the earliest adopters and pioneers of Computer Science and Information Technology in the Uttarakhand Himalayan region of the country. He also held the additional charge of the Director, Uttarakhand Space Application Centre (USAC). Prof. Pant has also led the ambitious ‘Uttarakhand School Mapping Information System’, project, under which over 20,000 schools in Uttarakhand have been mapped and a comprehensive Information system for planning and decision-making was developed. He has also initiated the development of the first tracking app, the Uttarakhand COVID-19 tracking system and has promoted online education through a series of Webinars, e-workshops, and web conclaves on ‘Technology Enabled Education.
The Session by Prof. Pant presented an exciting opportunity for the students and faculty members of UPES to gather Prof. Pant’s views on digital transformation, the latest trends in the industry, the way digital is creating unending opportunities across businesses, industry, and education, integration of digital technology into all areas of a business resulting in fundamental changes to how businesses operate, and the way it has taken a central stage across all spheres of our professional and personal life. The team at the School of Business continuously strives to create various engagements in alignment with our vision to be the “Business School for a Digital World”, preparing our students to adapt to disruptions and rapidly changing workplaces.
