Why should we study stars?

UPES, in association with Institute of Physics (IOP), UK, Indian Physics Association (IPA) and Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) is organizing online lectures titled ‘Science Series’ by eminent scientists from India and abroad, especially for school students and school teachers.

The sixth session in the series will feature Prof. Annapurni Subramaniam, Director, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore. She has about three decades of research experience and has published about 150 research publications on topics such as star clusters, stellar populations, galaxies, and ultra-violet astronomy. She is a Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences and Life Member of International Astronomical Union and Astronomical Society of India. She is recipient of C.V. Raman Young Scientist Award for Physical Sciences from the Karnataka government for the year 2018 and SERB-POWER Fellowship in 2021. She is currently the Chief Editor of Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, and Scientific Editor of Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics journals.
