The Filmmaking Workshop at UPES School of Design (SOD), hosted by the Communication Cluster and conducted by renowned film director Dhiraj Banerjee, was an immersive 5-day program focused on music video production. Designed to bridge theoretical knowledge and practical filmmaking skills, the workshop covered a range of topics, from the historical evolution of music videos to modern storytelling techniques and hands-on production.

Idea and Objective

Filmmaking Workshop on Music Video Production: An intensive 5-day hands-on workshop designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical filmmaking skills, focusing specifically on the art and technique of music video creation. Conducted by renowned film director Dhiraj Banerjee, the workshop offered students an immersive experience, from understanding the historical evolution of music videos to producing and editing their own music video projects.

Event Objective: 

  • To understand the cultural significance and evolution of music videos as an art form.
  • To foster creative thinking and visual storytelling through unconventional methods like emoji-based storyboarding.
  • To develop technical proficiency in scripting, production, and post-production for short-format music videos.
  • To provide participants with hands-on experience by enabling them to conceptualize, shoot, and edit a complete music video as a group project.
  • To encourage collaboration, innovation, and critical feedback processes among aspiring filmmakers.
