Profile Summary

Ms. Ashi Gupta is a distinguished academician, researcher, and mentor currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Computer Science, UPES Dehradun, Bidholi Campus. She has over three years of teaching and research experience. A former project employee at IIT Jodhpur, she is also a GATE-qualified scholar and a two-time Vedic Mathematics National Champion. She currently serves as an IEEE Journal Reviewer and has been an invited jury member for major Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, GoI-organized hackathons three times since 2021. 

Ms. Gupta is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering at NIT Patna, focusing on machine learning-based authentication frameworks for PUF-based hardware security in the Internet of Vehicles. She completed her M.Tech. in Signal Processing from Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi, where she worked on designing alternative Tow-Thomas biquad filters. She earned her B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, Delhi, with a strong foundation in digital communication, embedded systems, and circuit design. 

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Ms. Gupta was a Junior Research Fellow at IIT Jodhpur (May-Dec 2024), where she worked on the government-sponsored project titled “PUF Crypt: Fortifying the Internet of Things (IoT) with unclonable security using Physical Unclonable Function (PUF).” She also served as a Visiting Lecturer at The NorthCap University & Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Delhi-NCR (2022-2024), teaching courses such as AI, cybersecurity, computational statistics, and microprocessors to students of BBA, BCA, MBA, and B.Tech; and supervising 8 groups of BCA. Additionally, she worked as a Technical Trainer & Subject Matter Expert at Seminarroom, EcademicTube, and Chegg (2021-2025), providing AI/ML training for MBA students across the country. In 2018, she was one of 25 students selected nationwide as a Digital India Internship Intern. As a Content Developer at Unacademy (2021-2022), she created study materials for GATE and ESE aspirants in ECE. 

Teaching Philosophy

Ms. Gupta integrates research-driven learning with real-world applications, incorporating interactive teaching methodologies such as problem-based learning and industry-relevant case studies. By engaging students with practical applications and hands-on projects, she fosters analytical thinking, ensuring they can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world implementation. Her approach emphasizes experiential learning, critical problem-solving, and exposure to cutting-edge research to cultivate industry-ready graduates. Her curriculum development integrates interdisciplinary research with modern computational tools to prepare students for challenges in secure computing and AI-driven applications.

Awards and Grants

Ms. Gupta has received several prestigious accolades for her academic excellence and contributions. She has actively contributed to innovation and education as a Jury Member for the Smart India Hackathon 2024, a Mentor for the UNESCO India-Africa Hackathon 2022, and a Jury & Mentor for Toycathon 2021-22. Her research achievements include receiving a Travel Grant for Indo-ML 2024 at BITS Pilani and earning a Nomination at the National Innovation Awards 2024. She is a two-time Vedic Mathematics National Champion (2011, 2012) and a recipient of the MHRD Scholarship for Academic Excellence (2019). She was honored with the Student of the Year Award by The Times of India (2011-12) and achieved a State Rank of 33 in the International Olympiad of English.  

Scholarly Activities

Ms. Gupta has presented her work at prestigious IEEE conferences and published in top-tier journals. She continues to expand her expertise through FDPs, workshops, and certification courses. Beyond publications, she is an NPTEL Elite Scholar, she has reviewed articles for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. She is also an Editorial Board Member for MAT Journals Pvt. Ltd. Her contributions to interdisciplinary collaborations continue to lead to the development of cryptographic frameworks ensuring robust authentication in IoT and vehicular networks.
