Dr. Tanupriya Choudhury, Senior Member of the IEEE, is a distinguished academician, researcher, and innovator with more than 16 years of experience in higher education, research, and industry collaboration in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. He holds a B.Tech. (2004-2008) in Computer Science and Engineering from the West Bengal University of Technology Kolkata, an M.Tech. CSE (2008-2010) from Dr. M.G.R. University, Chennai with GATE Scholarship, and earned his Ph.D. from Jagannath University, Jaipur.

As a recognized contributor to the global research community, Dr. Choudhury has been an invited speaker, panelist, and active participant in numerous national and international conferences. He holds lifetime membership with the International Engineering & Technology Association (IETA) and is affiliated with leading professional bodies including IEEE, IET (UK), and various other technical societies.

Beyond academia, Dr. Choudhury plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between research and practice through his technical advisory roles for organizations such as Deetya Soft Pvt. Ltd., IVRGURU, and Mydigital360. He also serves as the Honorary Secretary of IETA-India and holds senior advisory positions in the INDO-UK Confederation of Science, Technology and Research Ltd. (London, UK) and the International Association of Professional and Fellow Engineers (Delaware, USA).

His career exemplifies a blend of academic leadership, research excellence, innovation, and cross-border collaboration, making him a prominent figure in advancing technological education and applied AI research on both national and international platforms.  

Work Experience

Currently serving as a Professor at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, India, Dr. Choudhury also contributes internationally as a Visiting Professor at Daffodil International University, Bangladesh. His career reflects a progressive journey through a variety of esteemed academic institutions, including Symbiosis International Deemed University, Graphic Era Hill University, and Amity University, where he also held leadership roles as Assistant Professor (Grade-III) and International Department Head. His professional engagements extend to renowned engineering colleges such as Dronacharya College of Engineering, Lingaya’s University, and BBDIT, as well as industry exposure through his tenure at Syscon Solutions Pvt. Ltd.He had also worked for Amity Global Institute Singapore from June. 2017 to Jan. 2018.

Dr. Choudhury’s research portfolio spans across Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), Deep Learning, Human Computing, Soft Computing, Cloud Computing, and Data Mining. He is a prolific innovator, having filed 25 patents and secured 16 software copyrights from the Ministry of Education (formerly MHRD), India. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to the development of cutting-edge computational models, real-world AI applications, and the integration of advanced computing paradigms in industry and academia.

Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Choudhury’s teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education should be a transformative process that equips students with both deep technical expertise and the ability to apply knowledge innovatively in solving real-world problems. I emphasize a learner-centric approach, blending theoretical foundations with practical, hands-on experience. By integrating cutting-edge topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, and Soft Computing into my teaching, I prepare students for the rapidly evolving technological landscape. I incorporate project-based learning, research integration, and industry case studies to encourage problem-solving skills and adaptability. Mentorship is central to my philosophy.
