Profile Summary

Shreejit Guha is a design educator, filmmaker, and researcher with a deep interest in visual storytelling and character-based communication. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Design at UPES, Dehradun, with a research focus on character body highlighting for theme communication—examining how specific highlighted human body elements act as visual cues and contribute to identity, emotion, and narrative in character design across animation and live-action media.
As an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, UPES, he merges academic inquiry with hands-on industry experience to mentor students and develop interdisciplinary projects rooted in design thinking, cultural expression, and narrative clarity.

Work Experience

With over a decade of creative practice, Shreejit has worked in multiple capacities—including Assistant Director, Storyboard Artist, Screenwriter, Cinematographer, and Animation Producer. His short films have been screened and awarded at national and international film festivals. He has contributed to feature films, documentaries, educational media, and national-level animation series.

Teaching Philosophy

Shreejit approaches teaching as a form of storytelling and a collaborative event—where context, empathy, and clarity are central. At UPES, he teaches courses such as Storyboarding & Animatics, Stop Motion Animation, and Photography. He strives to foster classroom environments that are collaborative, concept-driven, and grounded in both theoretical and practical learning.

Research Interests

His research spans character design theory, visual semiotics, and narrative perception. He has presented and published at prestigious forums including ACED, ICoRD, and HWWE. He is particularly interested in exploring how cognitive, cultural, and ergonomic factors influence audience response to visual character designs, and how these insights can inform more effective and inclusive character design practices.
