M.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics - Nutrigenomics and Functional Foods
Program Details
The M.Sc. Nutrition & Dietetics with specialisation in Nutrigenomics and Functional Foods at UPES is a two-year program that builds a strong base in clinical nutrition and dietetics, public health nutrition, holistic nutrition, nutrition counselling, food science and independent research. It focuses on nutritional needs across life stages and physiological conditions to support informed day-to-day and specialised nutrition decisions.
The Nutrigenomics and Functional Foods specialisation links nutrition, genetics and health, helping students understand diet–gene interactions, how nutrients influence gene expression, and how genetic variation affects metabolism and disease risk. It also covers nutraceuticals and functional foods, including bioactive compounds and functional ingredients, preparing graduates for precision nutrition, functional food development, nutraceutical research and evidence-based nutrition solutions.
Program Highlights
- Students receive hands-on training through laboratory sessions, workshops and industry internships.
- In-house research projects, industrial training and internships support real-world application and industry exposure.
- Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, conferences and research projects, while developing communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills.
