Integrated reservoir management consists of the application, within a given fiscal and contractual frame, of well-established industrial technologies and field best practices to a hydrocarbon reservoir, in order to efficiently perform the field operations and maximize the economic return of the investments. 

Integrated Reservoir Management relies on the use of human, technological and financial resources to capitalize on profits from a reservoir by optimizing the hydrocarbon recovery while minimizing both the capital investments and the operating costs. 

Reservoir management has advanced through various stages due to better-quality techniques, improved knowledge of reservoir behaviour, ad hoc IT software that has helped the interpretation, processing and management of all available data.  

The integrated reservoir management concept blends a dynamic process that aims at identifying the uncertainties affecting future field behaviour, and tries to reduce their impact by optimizing the field performance through a systematic application of integrated, multidisciplinary technologies. Keeping this in mind, UPES offers Integrated Reservoir Management specialization to B Tech students of petroleum engineering. Students can learn how the reservoir management process must be designed and implemented to individual fields based on Logistics and size of the field/reservoirs, Geological complexity of the field/reservoirs, Reservoir rock and fluid properties, Depletion state, Regulatory controls and Economics

Minimum 50% Marks in Class X and XII. Minimum 50 % in PCM (Physics/Chemistry and Mathematics) in Class XII

Minimum 10+2 basic qualifications in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry stream. The selection of the eligible candidates is through entrance examinations (JEE or UPESEAT). 

The B.Tech. Applied Petroleum Engineering UPSTREAM prepares the students to be suitable for various roles in the industry as follows:

The demand for petroleum engineers, both in the public sector as well as the private sector, is quite high all world over due to the increasing demand for hydrocarbons as a fuel source. Petroleum engineers get a wonderful chance to work with some of the biggest companies namely Reliance Industries Ltd., Exon Mobil, British Petroleum, ONGC, Schlumberger, Shell, OIL, Gas Authority of India Ltd., Oil India Limited, Halliburton Services, Essar Oil, etc. An entry-level engineer can be employed for a packaging range of INR 5 lacs- INR 27 lacs. 

Another promising area is the IT and consulting companies such as Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Enverus and TCS with one of their verticals focused on Oil & Gas. The remuneration is quite high in core technical jobs, especially with big companies. High oil prices will always be a determining factor for job opportunities in this sector.
