Profile Summary
Dr. Anusree Paul is an economist and econometrician with expertise across microeconomics, international economics, development, health, gender, and applied econometrics. She holds a PhD from the University of Calcutta and a post-doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
She has published extensively in Scopus and ABDC-indexed journals, along with books, book chapters, and policy papers. Her work involves advanced econometric modelling using cross-section, panel, and micro-level datasets such as UN Comtrade, CEPII, WITS, WIOD, NFHS, DHS, and ASI.
Dr. Paul has collaborated with institutions including the University of Warwick and MITACS Canada, and has served as a consultant to IIFT, CUTS, and SAWTEE. She is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Quebec. Her research spans international trade, industrial performance, health externalities, gender, and climate-linked social outcomes.
Work Experience
Dr. Paul is currently Associate Professor at UPES. Previously, she served as Associate Professor and Area Chair in Economics at BML Munjal University, where she also held leadership roles including Assistant Dean – International Affairs.
Her academic journey includes roles at Symbiosis School of Economics, VIT University, and ISBF – University of London, along with a post-doctoral fellowship at JNU. She has also undertaken consultancy projects with IIFT, CUTS International, SAWTEE, and Oxfam, contributing to research on trade, competition, and industrial policy.

Applied econometrics; micro and mathematical economics; international trade; development economics; health and gender; climate-linked social outcomes; industrial competitiveness.
Teaching Philosophy
Her teaching emphasises analytical rigour, conceptual clarity, and data-driven learning. She integrates econometric modelling, real datasets, and policy applications to connect theory with practice.
She encourages critical thinking, independent research, and methodological precision, preparing students for careers in academia, industry, and public policy.

Awards and Grants
Recipient of the ICSSR Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2016–18) and IDSK Doctoral Fellowship (2003–07). Qualified UGC-NET and WBCSC-SLET.
She has led and contributed to funded projects with ISI New Delhi, University of Quebec (MITACS), IIFT, CUTS International, SAWTEE, and Oxfam. She is also part of a Fulbright–MITACS accepted project (2025).

She has presented research at leading international forums across India, the US, Denmark, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, and delivered invited lectures at institutions such as JNU, IIT Kanpur, RIS, and Dhaka School of Economics.
Her engagement also includes organising FDPs, econometrics workshops, and policy discussions, guiding doctoral research, and contributing to public discourse through platforms such as Economic Times, ORF, Scroll, and The Diplomat.
