Dr. Akarsh Verma is an accomplished academic in computational mechanics and materials science. His research has been widely recognized internationally, with publications in reputed peer-reviewed high-impact journals receiving more than 7000 citations. He has edited several scholarly books published by leading publishing houses and authored numerous invited book chapters. He has presented his work at international conferences across the globe and received multiple best paper awards. 

Dr. Verma was awarded the prestigious J. William Fulbright Doctoral Research Fellowship to conduct research at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, USA. He also received the Visiting Research Scholarship funded by the Thailand Government Research Fund to undertake research at King Mongkut’s University of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. He has been included in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list for 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, as released by Stanford University and Elsevier. Recently, he received the Top Cited Paper Award from IOP Publishing, UK, with one of his research articles ranked among the top 1% most-cited papers in their journal portfolio. 

Work Experience

Before joining UPES, Dr. Verma was awarded the esteemed Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct research at the Department of Mechanical Science and Bioengineering, Osaka University, Japan. In addition, he also carried out postdoctoral research at Brigham Young University (BYU), Utah, USA.

Awards and Grants

Dr. Verma has received the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Postdoctoral Fellowship, Japan, and the J. William Fulbright Doctoral Research Fellowship, USA. He also received the Early Career Training Grant Award from the Nature journal Communications Materials and several travel grants. He has been listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists for 2020–2024. He was also awarded the Excellence in Doctoral Research Award for the best Ph.D. thesis research at IIT Roorkee, India. 

Scholarly Activities

Dr. Verma actively serves the global research community as a reviewer for more than 200 international peer-reviewed journals and various conferences. His extensive academic engagement reflects his commitment to advancing standards of scientific scholarship and publication quality. 

He is also an active member of several professional bodies, including ASTM International, IAENG, IRED, ISTE, NSPE, and CSME. Through research, mentorship, reviewing, and professional participation, he continues to contribute significantly to the fields of computational mechanics and materials science.
