Profile Summary
Prof. Niraj Shrivastava is an accomplished legal academic and former judicial officer with over fifteen years of experience spanning litigation, judicial service, and legal education. He is currently serving as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the School of Law, UPES, Dehradun, where he teaches Code of Civil Procedure and Fundamentals of Moot Court.
Prior to entering academia, he served with distinction as a Civil Judge in the State of Chhattisgarh from 2016 to 2025, holding judicial assignments at Raigarh, Bilaspur, Raipur, and Dantewada. He completed his LL.M. with Distinction in Intellectual Property Rights in 2025 and holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from HNLU, Raipur. His core strength lies in integrating courtroom experience with classroom pedagogy to prepare students for litigation and judicial services.
Work Experience
Prof. Niraj Shrivastava served as a Civil Judge in Chhattisgarh for over eight years (2016–2025), adjudicating civil and criminal matters across multiple districts including Raigarh, Bilaspur, Raipur, and Dantewada. Prior to this, he worked as a Law Clerk under the Controller General of Defence Accounts, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.
He also practiced as an Advocate at Shekhar Shrivastava and Associates, Bhilai, handling matters related to contracts, labour law, industrial disputes, and regulatory compliance. He currently serves as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the School of Law, UPES.

Teaching Philosophy
Prof. Niraj's teaching philosophy is rooted in experiential and practice-oriented learning. He believes that true legal understanding emerges when theory is consistently connected to courtroom realities. He encourages analytical reasoning through case-based discussions, procedural simulations, and structured mooting exercises.
His classroom approach focuses on developing litigation skills, procedural discipline, and ethical professionalism, thereby preparing students not only for examinations but for real-world advocacy and judicial careers.

Recipient of the Sarvottam Scholarship for B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) by Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Recognized for excellence in academics, sports, and literary activities during school and university years. His argumentative essay on Simultaneous Elections in India was selected for publication by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi (2025). His research paper on Accountability of Online Platforms for Child Safety was selected as a book chapter by Atlantis Press (2025).

Prof. Niraj Shrivastava is actively engaged in academic research and scholarly writing. His argumentative essay on Simultaneous Elections in India: One Nation, One Election was selected for publication by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, in 2025. His research paper on Accountability of Online Platforms for Child Safety was selected as a book chapter by Atlantis Press in 2025. He has also published earlier works on constitutional law and reservations in promotion.
Prof. Niraj has served as a judge for an International Moot Court Competition organized by Galgotias University and regularly mentors students in mooting, trial advocacy, and research writing. His scholarship reflects a strong blend of doctrinal analysis, judicial insight, and engagement with contemporary legal challenges.
