About the department

Electrical and Electronics Engineering department started in the year 2008 under the College of Engineering (COEs), UPES with a four-year undergraduate degree program as B.Tech in Electronics and communication Enginineering with specialization in 5G Communication &Technology and VLSI design &Embedded System, B.Tech in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Smart grid computingandElectric vehicle & grid management. Understanding the necessity to develop the skills related to this field, UPES also offers B. Tech in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Engineeringwith specialization in Energy Storage System and Waste of Energy which blends the conceptual and practical aspects of energy generation from renewables and building a sustainable society.For higher studies department offers two year postgraduate programs as M.Tech inRenewable Energy Engineering with specialization insmart grid and green energies and M.Tech in Energy Systems &Sustainability engineeringwith specialization in low corbon technology and sustainable development under electrical vertical and M.Tech in Automation &Robotics Engineering with specialization in automoation and robotics under Electronics vertical. Graduates from the department will have skillset to address the challenges if the 21st century. The students will focus on complex problem statements that solves issues like of 5G communication, VLSI, E-Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence& Machine Learning, Self-Driving cars, Internet of Things, Renewable energy, Robotics & Automation to name a few.The students are given additional option to choose Minor Specialization to cater for the skillset demanded by the industrial revolution 4.0. The specializations offered are: Artificial Intelligence – Machine learning and deep learning, Internet of Things, Robotics and Self-Driving cars, Data Analytics, block-chain, and diploma in Business Management. For the research our department offers PhD programs in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES (POs)

  • Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct Investigations of Complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
