Dr. Monika Yadav

Associate Professor

Profile Summary

Dr. Monika Yadav is an Associate Professor in the Electrical Cluster at UPES, Dehradun, India. She completed her post-doctoral research in 2025 from the University of Salerno, Italy, in Smart Grid Optimization. She earned her Ph.D. (2024) on “Optimal Allocation of Distributed Generation for Resilient Electrical Distribution Grids” and M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power System Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in 2015.

Her research focuses on the planning, optimization, and operation of modern power systems, particularly in the areas of distribution grid resiliency, integration of distributed energy resources, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and microgrid technologies. She is currently involved in a DRDO-sponsored research project titled “Optimized Thermal Management of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) with Battery Management System (BMS) and Design and Development of Smart Inverter for Defence Microgrid Applications”.

She is also associated with an industry-sponsored project with Siemens titled “Advancing Grid Stability and Renewable Energy Integration in Gujarat: A Comprehensive Study for Hotspot Identification and Transient Analysis.” Dr. Yadav actively promotes industry–academia collaboration and has delivered technical training programs for TATA Power Solar on “Grid Code Compliance for Renewable Energy Integration.” She is an IEEE Senior Member and a certified Distribution Engineer’s Trainer from the Power Sector Skill Council of India (2019).

Awards and Grants

Dr. Yadav has received the IEEE senior member recognition in 2022. Also, she has received degree of distinction in her post-graduation and in graduation.

Scholarly Activities

As a mentor, Dr. Yadav has successfully guided a group of undergraduate students in the development of cutting-edge technology solutions. Under her guidance, the students have created a Universal portable charging kit. This portable kit offers a versatile and user-friendly solution, enabling users to charge their devices on the go.

In addition, she actively engages the students in research, exchanging ideas and imparting her extensive knowledge in the field. This collaborative approach has resulted in the publication of numerous research papers in prestigious SCI/Scopus-indexed journals and reputable conference proceedings.

Also, for the student’s technical skill enhancement, she organized industrial trip(s) for the students at Dhanu thermal power plant.

Apart from teaching and research, she mentored B. Tech and M. Tech students as and when required. She has also conducted GATE classes for the students.
