The Bachelor of Design (Fashion) program by UPES School of Design is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate course that focuses on merging traditional craftsmanship with modern digital tools to transform flat fabrics into dynamic three-dimensional structures. The program emphasizes a designer's perspective, providing students with the necessary skills to excel in diverse design disciplines. Graduates of this program will be proficient in presenting their fashion ideas through sketches, technical drawings, tech-pack, fabric and surface samples, and digital representation.
Aspiring fashion designers will also acquire the skills to implement surface embellishments, including prints, embroidery, and textures, into their apparel creations. Furthermore, they will learn how to generate cost projections and explore alternative product options while refining their design concepts and executing product prototypes. To provide students with a well-rounded education, the program includes summer internships with top design labels and industrial visits to give students first-hand knowledge of the workings of the design industry.
The program also offers a unique module centred around craft documentation, where students will conduct research-based pursuits, delve into the rich traditions of Indian crafts, and meticulously record their findings. This module encourages students to explore the depths of Indian craftsmanship and infuse their designs with the essence of the country's heritage. The Bachelor of Design (Fashion) program aims to prepare graduates to become skilled fashion designers who are competent in all aspects of the design process, from ideation to the execution of the final product.
