Design Admissions | UPESDAT 2027

B.Des.: Minimum 50% marks in Class X and XII with any Stream.

M.Des: 

• Minimum 50% marks at Higher and Senior Secondary Level (X & XII).
• Minimum 50% marks in Bachelor’s degree in any stream: 10+2+3 years (B.Des/B.Arch. / B.Tech/ BFA graduates will be preferred).
• Valid CEED/NID/NIFT Score

B.Des.: UPESDAT / National Level Exam (NID/NIFT/UCEED/JEE Mains) / Board Merit / CUET-UG followed by Portfolio Presentation & Interview round.

M.Des.: UPESDAT / National Level Exam (CEED/NID/NIFT) followed by Portfolio Presentation & Interview round. Minimum qualifying scores and eligibility requirements for AY 2027–28: TBA.

Offline Portfolio Presentation

• Hand-drawn sketches / renderings using pencils, colour markers, coloured pencils, or other media such as charcoal, natural dyes, etc.
• Photography: Aspirants can showcase their photography skills by presenting original photographs or images captured by them. They may also present digital artwork, including drawings, sketches, and renderings created using digital tools and techniques (2D or 3D).
• Physical Models / Prototypes: Creative work made using clay, plastic, wood, cardboard, or other materials.
• Aspirants may also bring any other creative work that demonstrates their skills, interests, and originality.
• Certificates and Achievements: Certificates from competitions or any special recognition, including school or class-level competitions, if applicable.

Online Portfolio Presentation

Design Portfolio: Prepare a digital portfolio in PDF or PPT format as per the requirements below. The portfolio will be presented through Microsoft Teams.

• Hand-drawn Sketches / Renderings: Include scanned copies of sketches or renderings created using pencils, colour markers, coloured pencils, charcoal, natural dyes, or other media. These may include everyday objects, nature studies, symbolic artwork, or experimental work.
• Photography / Digital Media Work: Showcase original photographs captured by you or include drawings, sketches, and renderings created using digital tools and techniques (2D and/or 3D).
• Certificates & Achievements: Include scanned copies of certificates from competitions or any special recognition, including class-level competitions, if applicable.

Aspirants are advised to adhere to the following guidelines:

• Take a Demo Test – B.Des. Link (TBA) & M.Des. Link (TBA)
• The actual credentials (passkeys) required to appear for the exam will be sent to applicants on their registered mobile numbers one day prior to the exam date.
• Portfolio Presentation & Interview will be conducted after the exam, as well as respective slot bookings. 

It is recommended that students take a demo test to gain practice and resolve queries before the actual examination.

Non-Exam Pathway

B.Des.: National Level Exam (NID/NIFT/UCEED/JEE Mains) / Board Merit / CUET-UG. Minimum qualifying scores and Board Merit requirements for AY 2027–28: TBA.

M.Des.: Candidates with valid CEED / NID / NIFT scores may be considered for exemption from UPESDAT, subject to the admission criteria for AY 2027–28. Minimum qualifying scores and exemption requirements: TBA.

Fellowship in M.Des. Program

Teaching Assistantship of up to ₹3,000/- is available for students pursuing the M.Des. program.

Eligibility Criteria for Fellowship for M.Des. Students

• Minimum SGPA/CGPA of 8.5 in the first semester and subsequent semesters/year.
• Must have passed every semester on the first attempt without any supplementary or improvement examination.
• Minimum 75% attendance throughout the semester.
• No disciplinary action initiated or awarded against the student.
• Exemplary behaviour and compliance with all other norms prescribed by the University.
• Students must not be receiving any other financial assistance or support, such as a fellowship, scholarship, or fee waiver, from any public or private source.

• Take a Demo Test. Students are recommended to take a demo test to gain practice and resolve any queries before the actual examination.

• Login credentials for online exam. Actual credentials (passkey) to appear for the exam on the chosen date will be provided to students one day prior to the exam on registered email ID and mobile number. This should not be confused with the demo link passkey.
• The examination Test window will be from 10 am to 2 pm.
  Students can log in during the given timeframe and begin with the online test. The timer starts when the student logs in.

Offline Portfolio Presentation

• Hand drawn sketches / rendering using simple Pencils, colour markers / pencils or any other media such as charcoal, natural dyes etc.
• Photography: aspirants can showcase their photography skills and present pictures / images clicked by you OR any experimentation on Digital media – Drawing, sketching, and rendering using digital media, tools, and techniques (2 dimensional, 3 dimensional).
• Physical Model / Prototype - i.e., something made of Clay, Plastic, Wood, Cardboard etc.
• Apart from the above, aspirants can also bring in anything to express / taste as creative skills.
• Certificates of Competitions / any special mention – for example class competitions etc. (if any)
