Dr. Addepalli Veeranjaneyulu

Dr Addepalli Veeranjaneyulu has a long and distinguished career spanning more than four decades, including Academic (Teaching & Research) and Industrial New Drug Discovery Research Experience. After graduating with B. Pharm from Andhra University, he pursued a master’s and a PhD in Pharmacology at LM College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad. Later, he was awarded Post Post-Doctoral Research fellowship by the Canadian Heart Foundation (CHF) & American Heart Foundation in 1986-1988.

Dr. Addepalli has 19 years of Industrial New Drug Discovery Research experience in Lupin Research Park, Pune, and IDPL, R&D, Hyderabad, and, Lederle Cyanamid India, Gujarat, Ciba–Geigy Research, Bombay. He has 23 years of Teaching experience that includes over 12 years up to Professor level at Pharmacy Group, BITS, Pilani, and Senior Professor, Associate Dean level at SPP SPTM NMIMS, Mumbai, India.

He has guided over 15 Doctoral Theses from Academia and Industry and over 78 master’s Theses. Many of his M. Pharm and Ph.D students from BITS, Pilani & NMIMS (Mumbai) are serving as CEOs, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Research Directors in Pharma majors, Professors & Entrepreneurs globally.
Formerly, he was the Director of SVKM’s C.B. Patel Research Center, Mumbai and Visiting Scientist / Professor at Nanchang, Shanghai Medical Foundations, China, under the auspices of the Canadian Heart Foundations.  He is working as Director of Research and Professor of Pharmacology at Dr D.Y. Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research, Pune.
His research areas of interest are Cardiovascular dysfunction and other – complications of Diabetes, Receptor Pharmacology, Serotonin - Serotonergic receptors- modulatory role in Migraine, Psychosis, and   Neurodegenerative disorders. Also professionally involved in Clinical research, acting as Chairman Clinical Ethics committee, and conducted coursework for Pharmacovigilance activity.

The cardiovascular research work carried out in Diabetes has been presented at the coveted conference American Heart Association, in three successive years. The papers published have been cited in reputed journals and in Nature Drug Discovery. Also chaired a session at the International Conference on Diabetes and Metabolism, San Deiago, California, USA. Dr. Addepalli has over 200 Research Publications in International and National Journals with 3 International (Industrial) Patents to his credit. He presented papers at International and National conferences/seminars and also chaired scientific sessions at National and International conferences overseas.

Dr. Addepalli and his Research team received a Letter of Appreciation for a Scientific publication, March 2010, in Neurological Sciences, which is highlighted in the Target Intelligence Service (TIS), USA, the database used by pharmaceutical companies worldwide to identify ground-breaking research of relevance to their work on potential drug targets.

One of his Books, Herbs for Diabetes and Neurological Disease Management – from Apple Academic Press, is placed in the Research and Advancements section. Dr. Addepalli was one of the Star Pharmacologist awardees in 2021, nominated by the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS). He is the recipient of the Pharmacology Excellence Award in Teaching and Research by IPS, IPSCON, Dec 2023, Chennai, which is a testimony to his teaching and research acumen. Also, Dr Addepalli is the recipient of the Dr. Gomti Devi Excellence Award for Scientific acumen as a Lifetime achievement award in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by the Award Selection Committee of Nav Bharat Nirman Samiti, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Govt, in Feb 2024. He was the recipient of Best Faculty Research Excellence awards for successive years during his tenure at NMIMS.

He is serving as an invited referee/reviewer and Editorial Board Member for both National and International Journals. Also, a Member of National and International Professional bodies like IPS, IPA, ISHR, IACS, ISPOR & Organizing Secretary for Golden Jubilee celebrations of IPS, IPSCON 2017, Mumbai.
