  • The program emphasizes on interdisciplinary aspects of both Sciences and Engineering including mine-surveying, mining mechanization, role of robotics engineering in mining along emerging themes of learning and education related to mine environment and sustainable mining, mineral quality analytics, India-specific placer deposits, opencast coal/ iron/ aluminum/ potash/ fluorite/ and other industrial minerals.

  • Through this programme, the department encourages the students to pursue cross traditional modules of mining engineering and seek employable opportunities with global mining enterprises, consultants, services providers, or explore opportunities as – techno-entrepreneurs, techno-economists of specific mineral mines and ore deposits, develop freelance expertise in reliability engineering and feasibility studies in robotic applications, geo statistical evaluation of complex ore deposits, innovative approaches in mine-surveying, mine planning, mine ventilation designing, mineral deposit assessment, and further gain basic techno-managerial strategies for rover fabrication for mining at both on-land off-land mineral deposits.

Examination Pathway admissions through UPESEAT (Up to 80% of Seats):

  • Minimum 60% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level (10th & 12th)
  • Minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary level (12th)

Non-Examination Pathway – admissions through JEE Mains Score (Up to 20% of Seats):

  • JEE Main Merit Pathway –
    Eligibility : Minimum 60% marks at higher & Senior Secondary level (10th & 12th) and minimum 60% aggregate in PCM at senior secondary level (12th class)
    Cut off : 60 percentile score JEE Main

Age Criteria:

Only candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1998 are eligible to apply for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board only will be taken as authentic.

Admit Card (to be downloaded from UPES website)

On the basis of information in the Application form, admit card of provisionally eligible candidates will be uploaded on the University website www.upes.ac.in on 1st May, 2019. Candidates are required to download the admit card accordingly. The duly completed downloaded admit card with photograph affixed (duly attested) in the space provided will have to be produced at the allotted test center. Candidates without the admit card or card without the photograph will NOT be permitted to take the test.

Admit card for B. Tech. CBT Test –

  1. Test date booking process will start from 18th April 2019 onwards on www.upes.ac.in
  2. Admit card will be issued to students immediately after successfully completion of test booking process.
  3. Student applying through offline mode through OMR form, also follow the process of test date booking and to get Admit Card from 1st May 2019 onwards on www.upes.ac.in

Note: 1. University reserves the right to increase or decrease test days/dates/number of test cities. Please refer www.upes.ac.in for updated information. 2. UPES will allot the test date and city as per the availability for the students who fail to choose the test date and city of their choice.





Merit Based Scholarship

  1. Scholarship will be offered to students securing an aggregate of 80% marks in class X & XII & 80% marks in PCM for B.Tech (All Streams) in CBSE/ ICSE / State Examination Board. Such scholarships will be limited to 10% of seats in each B.Tech Program. Scholarships will be allotted for the first Semester in Merit order to eligible candidates.
  2. Scholarships will be awarded based on merit only.
  3. Continuation of Scholarship in the subsequent years will be as per the University policy Scholarship Amount
  • 50% on Tuition fee of first Semester

Scholarship for Uttarakhand State Board Toppers:

  1. Merit order allotment of 1 seat per program.
  2. The seats reserved under this category will be within the 15% reservation for Uttarakhand resident students.
  3. Should have “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” (Permanent Residence Certificate)
  4. Students will be entitled only for 1 scholarship at a time (either through Uttarakhand Board Toppers or through Uttarakhand Resident category)
  5. Scholarship in subsequent years will be as per merit scholarship policy of the University
