The 16th World Petrocoal Congress, held in New Delhi on 16–17 April 2026, brought together leaders and experts to engage on the evolving energy landscape, with discussions spanning energy, bio-fuels, sustainability, and emerging technologies.

UPES School of Advanced Engineering marked a strong academic and leadership presence at the Congress. Led by Vice Chancellor Dr. Sunil Rai, UPES faculty and students contributed through keynote discussions and research presentations, reinforcing the university’s commitment to advancing innovation, research, and thought leadership in the energy sector.

A key highlight was Dr. Rai’s keynote, “UPES at the Forefront of the Energy Transition: From Hydrocarbons to Hydrogen and Beyond,” which received significant appreciation from industry, academia, and policy stakeholders. Faculty presentations further showcased UPES research and contributed to meaningful dialogue around the future of energy.

Objective

The primary objective of UPES’ participation at the 16th World Petrocoal Congress was to contribute to conversations around the global energy transition and strengthen engagement across energy, bio-fuels, sustainability, and emerging technologies.

Through leadership participation, research presentations, and interaction with industry, academia, and policy stakeholders, UPES aimed to showcase its academic and research capabilities while contributing perspectives on the changing energy landscape.
