Energy Conclave 2022 On Energy Storage


The event, “Energy Conclave 2022” on the theme ‘Energy Storage - Prospects and Challenges’ was organized by Energy Cluster, SoE on 23rd and 24th August 2022 at UPES Dehradun.


The event was inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Mrs. Nebula Bagchi (GGM, ONGC) on 23/08/2022 along with Prof Sunil Rai (VC, UPES), Prof. Ram Sharma (Pro-VC, UPES) and Prof. Gurvinder Virk (Dean – SoE, UPES) in the presence of dignitaries, delegates, participants, faculty and students from UPES and outside UPES.    

The inaugural ceremony was followed by four keynote sessions delivered by Dr. Akhila Kumar Sahu (Sr. Scientist, CSIR – CECRI), Mr. Sreenivas Jindam (Head – Energy, Racanaa Energy), Mr. Ankur Mundhra (Geophysicist, Halliburton) and Mr. Saurabh Singh (AGM – Energy, SAIL) in the area of energy storage and conversion. The day was concluded with an interesting panel discussion on buzzword of 2022 ‘Electric Vehicles – India’s transition and the road ahead’ in the presence of eminent panelists: Prof. Gurvinder Virk (Dean – SoE, UPES), Prof. Manish Kumar (Head - Sustainability Cluster, UPES), Dr. Akhila Kumar Sahu (Sr. Scientist, CSIR – CECRI), Mr. Sreenivas Jindam (Head – Energy, Racanaa Energy), and Mr. Jayanta Das (GM – Technical, IGGL).

The second day, 24/08/2022, saw a series of events hosted by student chapters from Energy Cluster that include ‘Model Making Competition’ by UPES-IIChE, ‘Energy Consortium’ by UPES-SPE, ‘Technovation’ by UPES-FIPI, ‘SCI-DART’ by UPES-SEG. It is notable to mention that the ‘Model Making Competition was participated by School Students who passionately showcased their ideas and thoughts on energy storage devices. The major event of the day was ‘International Conference on Material for Energy Storage and Conservation (MESC 2022)’ attended and participated by the students, research scholars, faculty and industry delegates which was followed by the technology demonstration session by our own faculty from Energy Cluster, Dr. Ashish Aggarwal on ‘GIS and its capabilities’.         

The event finally concluded with the valedictory function in the warm presence of our special guest Mr. Ajit Thakur (CEO, IGGL) and Mr. Jayanta Das (GM – Technical, IGGL) along with students, research scholars, participants, faculty members and industry delegates.


The event was attended by around 900 national and international participants and it was a stimulating interaction between industry, academia and students. The event was sponsored by Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), Guwahati-Assam and the publication partners, Springer and i-manager. The event was very well supported by the UPES management.
