Dr. Ankit Kumar Yadav holds Doctorate, Master, and Graduate degrees in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Transportation Systems Engineering (TSE), obtained from IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee in 2021, 2017, and 2015, respectively. His doctoral research was pioneering, focusing on the impact of alcohol on driving behaviour among Indian drivers. During his PhD, he participated in the International Research Skills Program for Developing Sustainable Transportation Systems and Infrastructure (STSI) at Hokkaido University, Japan. Dr. Yadav's research findings have gained media attention, being covered by esteemed outlets such as Hindustan Times, India Today, and NDTV.
Work Experience
Before his current role, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Harvard Medical School (2022-2023), and the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay (2021-2022).
Research Interests
Dr. Ankit Kumar Yadav's research interests revolve around Human factors in transportation, road user behaviour, traffic safety, sustainable transportation, traffic psychology, and travel behaviour.
Teaching Philosophy
Prof. Ankit emphasizes a student-centric teaching approach and dynamic learning to encourage students not only to excel in exams but also to develop their curiosity and question the world. He achieves this through class participation, student dialogues, activity-based learning, audio/visual demonstrations, group discussions, and spontaneous evaluations.
Awards and Grants
He has been honoured with three travel awards to present his research at international conferences organized by Rice University, International Conference on Alcohol, Drugs, and Traffic Safety, and Transportation Research Board (TRB) respectively. Additionally, he received the best paper award at the 5th Conference of the Transportation Research Group of India (CTRG). Notably, he was granted the MEXT fellowship by the Japanese Government to attend the STSI program at Hokkaido University, Japan, in 2019.
Scholarly Activities
Dr. Ankit Kumar Yadav has an impressive publication record, with twenty-five research articles published in high-quality journals and two book chapters in international encyclopedias. He has also presented fifteen research papers at renowned conferences worldwide and actively serves as a reviewer for more than twenty international journals in interdisciplinary areas related to transportation engineering and human factors.ivities
