Profile Summary
Dr. Parmar is an experimental material physicist specializing in colloidal and nanosized photocatalysts for energy harvesting applications. He is a highly motivated and enthusiastic teacher with diverse skills. His current research focuses on various applied aspects of light-driven catalysis for energy-related applications.
Work Experience
As an Associate Professor in the Physics Department at UPES Dehradun, India, Dr. Parmar brings extensive academic experience. He holds master's degrees in Optics and Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi and Roorkee, respectively. He earned his doctoral degree from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).
Research Interests
Dr. Parmar's research interests include Photocatalytic and Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting, Solar Energy Devices, and the Rheology of Colloids.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Parmar is committed to disseminating his expertise and motivating young minds to effect positive change. His educational approach focuses on learner-centricity, fostering an atmosphere where both students and instructors feel at ease adopting progressive advancements in learning and instructional techniques.
Courses Taught
Dr. Parmar has taught a wide range of courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs including Engineering Physics, Digital Electronics, Lasers and Applications, Optics, Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Solid State Physics, and Laboratory courses.
Awards and Grants
Dr. Parmar has been recognized for his academic achievements and research contributions. He is a recipient of the GATE Fellowship at IIT Delhi. He also received a PhD scholarship grant at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and a KOSEF Postdoctoral fellowship grant at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).
Scholarly Activities
An active member of the Indian Physics Association, Dr. Parmar has authored over 25 articles for prestigious international journals and contributed to several book chapters covering various areas of physics. He has delivered more than 35 keynote and plenary presentations at conferences worldwide, demonstrating his expertise and knowledge in the field. Additionally, he actively contributes to the creation of e-content for several universities.
